1997 civic, d16y7 just refreshed, now wont start?
UPDATE:: I adjusted my valves and we got the car started. It sounded like **** but it ran for a second. I shut it off and put everything back together, and I know have no spark. I didn't do anything different other than put coolant in the radiator. Checked fuses. They're all fine..... Now I'm really stumped. My firing order is correct, and I'm still getting fuel and compression. Just zero spark. I have a clear distributor cap, and there is no spark inside the dizzy whatsoever...... Wtf?
So I just had my head rebuilt, along with new water pump, all gaskets, new thermostat, radiator, ect. Basically refreshed the top end and cooling system. I have everything back together and timed, I get spark, my fuel pump primes, fuel to the rail, and compression, but no start. When we first put it together we got the CEL code for top dead center sensor, (#8 when jumping the ecu to check). Which went away when we reset the battery. It has not come back even after many times trying to start it. Firing order for spark plug wires is correct, so I can't figure it out. ECU? Main Relay? I have an alarm also that has a wired in kill switch, but I don't think that affecting anything because I'm using my keys to start the car obviously. LoL. I'm so confused. Any ideas?

Hey, I had a similar problem when I put a rebuilt distributor onto my car the other day...
Top Dead Center Sensor is the same as your Camshaft Positioning Sensor
It's located in your distributor
That is where the problem lies, methinks

Yeah, that's the thing though. The check engine light never came back on, and there was nothing wrong with the distributor when it was removed. It was removed and set on a shelf, where it sat undisturbed till put back on.

repair all electrical grounds, charge car battery, etc. etc. I'm always tempted to say "check" grounds but the grounds on my civic looked fine yet when I cleaned them, I reduced the ohms value down to 0 or practically zero ohms so I wouldn't be surprised if others had/have the same issue.

Ah...Hmm
The problem with mine was the sensor was crap...
Well, crap man...a camshaft positioning sensor is like $40 at the O'Reilley's down the street from me...
May wanna try popping a new one in there just to see if it makes a difference.
If not, return the sensor and go from there
^^;
Either that or some dirt or crud got into the plug connections and is messing with stuff
Wait....you said you have fuel to your rail....you POSITIVE that fuel is getting thru your injectors?
OR....not sure if this is possible or not, but it'd definitely throw off your sensors: you sure you put the distributor on right?
I don't think the slot in the camshaft is off-set or tapering, meaning the distributor can be put on "upside down" on accident...may wanna double check that...
Other than that, I got nothin, man
^^;;
Good luck!

If the mechanical is definitely fine, then compression test the cylinders.
Is spark bright white at all four plugs?
Post a picture of your plug wire firing order on the distributor cap.
Do the fuel injectors pulse fuel into the cylinders?

I actually think I need to do a valve lash, and make sure my cam caps are torqued correctly, (to 14 ft. Lbs.) And loosen my timing belt. It's WAY tight and the car just sounds like its struggling to start.
