Default 1997 CIVIC BUCKS/CHUGS WHILE ACCELERATING. PLEASE HELP!!

Recently got a new distributor and when I got the car back I noticed about a week later that the car started bucking while accelerating, especially 2nd and third gear. No smoke or smell. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Did the mechanic put the distributor back wrong or can it be a wire plug issue? Thanks to all that can help.

mine did that too a while back when i changed my distributor's coil pack... to correct the problem i loosened all three bolts that hold the dizzy, twisted it as far right(clockwise) until there is only space on the left side of the bolt & re-tighten them. that fixed my issue. you should try that maybe it will work for you too.

question about the distributor. If you replace it does it matter if the wires from the spark plugs to the connections on the distributor go to any connection on the distributor or does each spark plug/cylinder have a specific connection on the distributor?

you're so right man, my bad well i mixed up but turn it which ever way just so that the space is to the left side of the bolt, which incase you would be right to turn counterclockwise... & yes each sparkplug/cylinder has a specific connection to the dizzy.

I personally wouldnt just turn my dizzy all the way to one side. You need to get a timing light and adjust the timing correctly. You could hurt your motor running fully advanced or fully retarded. Not to mention the gas mileage and possible detonation.....
