Default 1996 Honda del Sol VTEC - B16A2

I just purchased a 1997 JDM B18C-R for my car. I am reusing the transmission that came in my car from the factory (mates with an OBD2 B16A2). I want to replace the clutch and flywheel. Will I need these designed to fit a 1997 Integra Type-R or designed to fit my 1996 VTEC del Sol?

Please, serious and knowledgeable answers only. Thank you.

Kenny

Any hydraulic B series civic/integra clutch and flywheel will work.

The clutch that comes with that motor may be good still. The factory ITR clutch is really nice. ITR flywheels are also light weight. So...if all that all comes with...use it.

If you need a new clutch, exedy is a good brand.

Either the Exedy KHC05 or the Exedy stage 1 meant for any 92-01 Civic/Integra B series is a good kit.

You can resurface and reuse your B16 flywheel...find a used ITR one, or buy a good quality light flywheel.

I will be going through O'Riley Auto Parts and whatever clutch/flywheel they have.

Lol...that's a really bad idea. But hey....sometimes you ask for advice and then just do whatever anyway.

That is a HORRIBLE idea. O'Riley (just like every other part store out there) has a horrendous mark-up on clutch kits. Get yourself an Exedy OEM or Stage 1 clutch kit.

What? $560 is too much to pay for a LUK clutch kit that will fail in 30 days? Omggggg

I mean, I saw them listed for ~$250 on O'Riley, but clutchflywheel.com has the Exedy OEM kit for ~$150...so yeah. **** O'Riley, and all other chain parts stores, for clutches.

Amazon.com: Exedy Stage 1 Clutch and Lightweight Flywheel Kit for 1994-2001 Acura Integra 1.8L DOHC / 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si 1.6L DOHC: Automotive Amazon.com: Exedy Stage 1 Clutch and Lightweight Flywheel Kit for 1994-2001 Acura Integra 1.8L DOHC / 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si 1.6L DOHC: Automotive

Your prices were a slight bit off, unless you can find it cheaper.

Your amazon post was for a stage 1 with a chromoly flywheel. $499 seems a bit high even for that.

The OE replacement kit (equivalent to stock) is about $110 at rockauto. It will work perfectly on your ITR motor.

The stage1 by itself is like $250ish on ebay or other tuning shops.

Exedy flywheels are about $200 by themselves. Because they're lightened chromoly flywheels.

Alternatively, you can find a stock (used) ITR flywheel for about $100. This is an excellent option. Or maybe your motor will already come with one. Resurface it. Reuse it. It's a nice flywheel.

Or reuse your stock flywheel for free. Plus the resurface cost ($40ish).

The flywheel at O'reiley's will most likely weigh a couple more LBS than stock. It'll be over priced, just like their clutches.

If you want a cheapo "stock replacement" flywheel, check ebay or rock auto. Same thing as O'reiley...but less $$. Why would you do this, though?

Looks good, but the flywheel is unnecessary.

Is there a reason you absolutely want a new flywheel?
