Hello everyone,

I hope some one can help me out here. I just bought a 1996 Honda Del Sol SI AS-IS so no warranty, When I drove it home it felt great, I am no mechanic but there was some noise from accelerating that i thought is normal. While driving to work today, it got extremely loud, from what I was able to find using google this could be an exhaust leak, but again I am no mechanic so I am not sure. The car is an automatic and this sound only is that loud while accelerating, at idle it seems fine just like it was while driving home. I wont be able to get it looked at until end of week. Can someone provide some insight please? is it ok to drive, i need to get to back and forth to work, which is a 45 minute drive each way. Any answers would be appreciated.

Ok, so to update, I had this looked at and the exhaust line is broken. It is a complete break just after the down pipe. The mechanic I had look at it says I need a new exhaust pipe from the cat back. I have been looking for this part (part number BOSAL 285185 from rock auto) everywhere including junk yards but so far no luck in finding somewhere that can even get it. Does anyone have any ideas? If you go to a skilled exhaust shop, they can probably fabricate that pipe for you with or without a universal resonator (your choice). If it were at my shop, we'd probably only charge an hour + shop parts. There ARE aftermarket equivalents of that B pipe, though. I had to swap mine out in my brother's driveway about 3 christmases ago, hitting up the local Autozone by his house for the pipe

Yeah, depending on your location, any muffler shop should be able to set you up reasonably with something I can just make right there.
