1996 honda civic si climate control lights?
other then when u have one of them pressed a little light comes on showing u which one is on in the little rectangle boxes either amber or green.
but the rest of the climate is dark as ****.
i cant even see that there are controls even there if my alpine deck isnt on at nights..
theyever never been lighting up since i bought the car, any1 can throw me some pics of their climate control at night from a 96-99 civic?

Re: 1996 honda civic si climate control lights?
yeah see mine is nowhere near that, no lights at all.
could this be a fuse or are the actual bulbs shot.
I know in my integra the same thing happened and i had to take it all apart and change the little bulbs.
does anybody have part numbers for these bulbs?
and or diagrams on how to take it out

mine has a short somewhere I need to pull it all apart but it's a bit of a pain to do so. I used to be able to hit it with my hand and it would light up but anymore that doesn't work.

Check fuse 30 under the dash. If the fuse is fine, pop the dimmer switch out of the dash, unplug the connector, and then jump the red wire to the black wire in the connector. The dash lights should now shine at full intensity with the light switch on. If the dash lights now work, then replace the dimmer switch or permanently splice the red and black wires.

Next turn the light switch to the parking lights position and the dimmer switch to MAX bright, and then check whether there is battery voltage at terminal 6 in the 14P connector of the heater control panel. See below for details.

hey ron J, is the 14 pin connector plug green by any chance? behind the pocket on the instrument climate control theres an unpluged green connector plug.
and
as for 818ek9 just switch out the green bulbs for orange ones.

take out your glove box
take out your knee bolster under the steering wheel.
take out the cover under the climate controls.
take out center console entirly
unplug the heater cablefrom under the glove box area.
THEN
under the climate controls there is 2 screws vertically.. one on the left and one on the right, ull also see two screws going horizontal(leave these screws in these r dash screws, not climate control screws.
remove those 2 then ull see further in there is one screw holding the white climate control to the metal frame, remove it and the whole thing will then pop out.
It only comes out so far at first cause there is connectors u need to unplug.
1. is the connector for the 2 way hazzard flasher lights, unplug it, then the one for the rear window defrost, unplug that. if there isnt much room in the backs to work pop them out in the front to give room to remove plugs from the backside.
Then pull it out more and ull see two more connectors, brown and green, green is underneath on the left side looking at the climate controls properly. get ur head and hands under find it and un clip it so the climate controls can come out all the way.
brown is on the right side, looking at the climate controls properly, unplug it and remove the entire dash piece. the only thing let pluged in should be your deck. Which is fine, no removing of that is necessary.
upon all this beiong removed u should now be able to see where the lights go in the hazard and defroster buttons, if u flip em over ull see green circles.
those need replacing by ones from honda I DO NOT KNOW which part #'s these are.
ALSO there are two of them in the flashers plug, and one in the defroster plug.
then there is two 74 /BP2 12v lights(find em at any parts store) that lights the climate controls, upon removing mine today they were both blown. so i switched em out n it now lights up, as for the other two u can replace those with the instrument cluster intact in the dash.

Re: 1996 honda civic si climate control lights?
when i pulled mine out to switch my lights to red, i didnt see a grean plug goiing into my cc, of if there is one i didnt see it. and i pulled it all out, deck, bezel.
the green plug is either for keyless or a cd changer plug.
sence your lights work, its not a climate control wire... and the dome light thing only hapends sometimes, i have had 0 problems with mine, and my car has had 3 after market decks in it,

Re: 1996 honda civic si climate control lights?
if u replace factory deck u need to wire the aftermarket one correctly to make the auto dome light work.
if ur cdplayer is off, it will not work. u need the cd player on to work.
and yes there is a green plug plugged into your CC.
if u doint have one then u dont have a climate control, cause the green plug is a 14 pin plug that controls all ur lights, heat etc. if u didint have this GREEN lug u wouldnt have anything.
i suggest u check again.
if u look real close theres 3 green connectors total.
2 that dont plug in and 1 that does.
the 1 that does is the 14pin connector

not true. my dome light works find when its off, and it did with all my decks.
im not trying to argue,
when i pulled my cc it was late and i really didnt look to close at the plugs. so i dont know, i just know there is a green plug that has noithing to do with your climate control and i thought it could be the one you are talking about!
nor did i ever say there wasnt a green plug, read what i said, i said i didnt see a green plug, but i may have missed it.

Re: 1996 honda civic si climate control lights?
yeh u cant really see it unless u poke ur head up underneath, the cc will come out so far, its on the bottom left.
and yeh the green wire that does nothing is over on the right.
and yeh u culd be right about ur dome light.
its just in 96 civics to 98 or 2000 im not sure exactly on the years but. if u remove ur factory deck ur dome light wont work unless u redirect it somewhere that has power. im not sure how to do this nor where to begin, but i noticed mine works when cd player is on but not of. maybe the one who wired ur **** did a better job of the one who did mine cause they prolly wired urs somewhere else other then the deck.

i belive the dome light problem only effects 96-98s. but i will check on this and get back to you,
there are a couple wires behinde the cc, that you need to splice in order to get it fixed.
