1996 EX using DX block.... please help proof read my list
before you jump on my **** on this, I did already search & read FAQ on Minime.
BUT most people ask questions how to turn their 1996-1998 DX/LX into minime which require WIRING...
which is not my situation
1996 civic ex sedan auto
has rod knock
want to swap out block with y7 block that only ask 60K on it.
- y8 distributor
- OEM y8 head gasket
- y8 stock head bolts
- all wiring should be same since I'm using my y8 head, intake manifold, throttle body, in the EX chassie
Q:
1) the auto EX ecu will look for knock sesor... does the y7 block have one?
2) what will the compression be?
a) if higher or lower CR, do i have to worry about it? just daily driver auto car
3) do I have to do anything to hook up vtec since my EX is already wired for vtec?
.........Just slap the botton end on & take out the OIL JET & vtec will work?

the y7 doesn't have a knock sensor...
not sure about the compression...
and yes, you will need to take out the oil jet screw in order for vtec to work...
other than that...everything looks good...but not sure about the compression...eheheh...
gl on the swap charlie...

everything looks right. for the knock sensor, you can screw the knock sensor on the alternator bracket and it will work the same. just remove one of the 14mm bolts and put the knock sensor in place of it. but i think you might have to extend the wire for the knock sensor

the y7 block does not have a oil jet screw to take out it is already set. the y7 block has a spot for the knock sensor if you wanna do that its the same as the y8 block. your compression will be AROUND 9.9 or maybe a little lower 9.8 ? something like that wont need to change gas =P
