1996-D16Y7-Ticking Noise, OFF&ON, Clutch
Hi all.
Just recently bought myself a 1996 Honda Civic Hatch.
DX
D16Y7 114k miles.
5spd
But anyway, just recently it's started to make a ticking noise.
Noticeably.it sometimes gets a lot worse when I take corners, or turn.
It also noticeably gets worse when ever I push the clutch in to a certain point.
That's just the beginning.
I also had it scanned and it says I'm mis-firing on all 4 cylinders.
Plugs are fine, can't find a cause.
Also says I have a vacuum leak which is affecting the cylinders.
I'm new to the Hondas.
Want this thing to run decent. New to here as well.
Let me know if there is a way to post pictures or videos, I can do that happily.
OH ALSO. Sometimes after I shift out of 2nd or first,
It makes kinda of a backfire noise, or maybe a pop. Cant tell.
Any Info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!!

Check your mechanical and ignition timing. When was the last full tune-up? Reset the ECU (disconnect the battery, try to start the car, reconnect the battery) - do the codes come back? Is the ticking noise coming from the engine, suspension, or somewhere else?
Pictures can be uploaded to a site such as www.imgur.com (free, no sign-up required), and then just copy and paste the BBCode URL here. Videos can be uploaded to Youtube, then just post the full Youtube link, and the forum will automatically convert it to a video in the thread.

The first thing you do when you get a new car with an unknown maintenance history, regardless of what the previous owner told you, is to do a FULL tune up. That does not mean plugs and wires and you're done.

I don't know how to check the timing myself, any pointers ?
Also, Ido not know when or even if there has ever been a tune up, I'll call a mechanic about that tomorrow, and see what those run.
Ticking noise seems to be comming from either right below my headers or something. But it's definitely from engine.
Also, thanks for the info, if I can I can upload videos of noise. And here it sounds the strongest.

But this tick, it comes and goes.
Is that indicative of a blown motor for it to come and go sometimes

Possibly. A ticking or knocking noise coming from the motor itself usually means a spun bearing. A spun bearing means a blown motor. Spun bearings leave metallic fragments (chunks and slivers of the bearings) in the oil, thus looking for it during an oil change.
You should use a motor stethoscope (cheap, pick a parts store) to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from. Read the FAQ's sticky for how to check your mechanical and ignition timing, and do that. Don't bother with a mechanic for a tune-up - do it yourself, but hold off on doing that until you've reset the ECU to see what codes return, taken care of your timing, and most importantly, pinpointed the exact source of that noise.

Before it was telling me that I had a misfire on cylinders 1-4
Vaccum leak
And a bad o2 sensor,
Now I scanned it and it said I have a bad o2 sensor,
And that it.
However, the tick came back, after I was almost to work, took a turn, and bam, there it was.
I'll try to upload a video and post it here
