With that many miles, you'd probably want to freshen up the motor or replace it. B16's are meant to be revved. With that many miles, you'll probably be looking at bad valve seals, worn rings, and a cam seal leak. If you don't mind rebuilding it, and the tranny doesn't grind, I'd go for it.
If the CRX is in good shape, keep it, or trade for a del sol Si plus some cash from the other person... Then do a swap with the extra money. The Vtec doesn't really have much more for options over the Si.

You heard wrong. In stock form they're very reliable. The people that blow them up are the ones that build them poorly or rev them beyond where they make power.
Rev it to it's stock recommendation and it'll be fine.
it's a dandy motor, it just doesn't get any credit because it doesnt have vtec and no one likes torque.

You certainly can, but you'll want to wire up vtec and probably look into the numerouse Ls/vtec threads.
There's a few around about building reliable N/a and boosted Ls/vtecs too.

Re: 1995 Vtec sol (crx4life90)
hey man i jsut bought a b16a3 out of a wrecked del sol and it's awesome luckily i got to drive the motor before i bought it. even with 160k it's the strongest b16 i've ever driven. milage means less when a motor has been taken care of so if the guy lets you drive it and see if you can take off the valve cover a clean valve cover usually means the car has been maintained decently. BTW B16A3FTMFW lol i like mine a lot just did the swap last saturday. factory b16
