OT guys the engine is a d16z6 the car was my stepdad car for over 3 years and no event a month ago he did the timing belt and i get and drive fine no problem but the u get on feel like is pulling a boat or something like that take time in pick up the rpm passing 4k and up and have a fuel cut a 6500 rpm and the p28 fuel cut is a 7200 rpm if i am not run and the ecu is good i test in my friend eg and the fuel cut is 7200 rpm and i wen to check the timing but is missing the top cover where have the 3 lines to line up the cam pulley is any other way i can check the timing thanks guys

Are you able to set the ignition timing to spec using a timing gun?

i dont try that yet i would do that tomorrow because i line the cam pulley where the say up i put looking up and the crank pulley is line up where go but is not reving up to 7200 rpm u think if is off in the distributor a little bit would make do that

is the CAM and CRANK PULLEY set on TOP DEAD CENTER? if not, do so.

yes they are and i check with the light and i can get the white line to line up is really close i never have so many problem putting a car on timing

Using a timing light, the pointer should align with the red mark.

Hey guys I been really busy the last days and have no time to work in the car I take some pics of the timing lines and if I am not wrong the car is out of timing and the first piston was on the top I use the oil stick to make sure

I agree. However, both elements of the pointer are not aligned with the lone white mark in the picture, so there's also some degree of doubt.

So you think the pointer in both of the pulley are off @ronj I am going to do a video with the timing light when I can I be really busy during the week thanks for the help guys I would keep you post about what I do if I have time off during the week

I think it's just that the picture was taken at an angle. I'm betting that if the picture was taken looking straight down through the marks it would be dead on TDC.

From that angle, it looks like the TDC marker is lined up with the front of the TDC marker on the timing cover, when it needs to be lined up with the middle of it. From experience, I know that that difference is roughly one tooth. It very well might just be the angle, but that's how it looks from here.

We'll have to agree to disagree I guess. I looked at it more and longer, but it still looks like it matches right in the very middle to me.

You can also use the arrow on the oil pump to line up with a mark on the crank sprocket.

You only use the blue marked line on the camshaft pulley, the other ones are for different engines.

It's hard to tell if the timing is off, I would try messing around with the distributor some more first. just because it's easier than installing a timing belt. It's sorta easy to put the belt on wrong, it's very possible the timing is off ever so slightly.

The problem is its already button up so OP has to go by the crank and both timing marks on the cover.

OP take a better picture from the top with both timing marks on the cover aligned properly and the crank set on the white TDC mark. Your p/s pump line might be a challenge but you should be able to work around it.

you should re do the timing again, remove the plastic covers and instead of doing the timing with the crank pulley, take it off and do it with the little gear is behind the crank pulley, sometimes the crank pullet has been manipulated so many time is not that much accurate..... my advise as is the best way and works for my to correct timing issues.... (BTW I'm new around here but not on the topic, overseas user )
