Default 1995 Honda Civic DX Hatchback 1.5L Auto Fuel delivery issues?

So my wifes daily is currently having a minor hiccup in it's giddy-up.

First- the CEL for CYP sensor (9) has been on for the entire time I've owned the car. The distributer is new, it's in time; I'm just over that at this point... it's ran great for 8 months til now.. Nothing has changed since 6 months ago when I did a full tune up to it and set the timing. (Plugs, wires, dizzy, fuel filter, pcv, o2 sensor, oil change..)

When I come out in the morning to start the car, I turn the vehicle to the on position; fuel pump comes on, you can hear it prime just fine. I attempt to turn the car over and it sounds like it is out of gas; just turning over but acting like it needs fuel or something... So after about 2 minutes of trying to crank/start constantly, it starts. It runs with no issues (Obviously cel9 is on), but runs fine. I get off work at 6pm, after being there at 7:30am... walk out to the car and it starts right up. CEL9 shows up as usual but it runs great and has no issues.

Literally this is only when I am attempting to start it in the morning after it sitting for... 10 hours in my garage.

It's hot as hell out currently, but gets to be 80ish in my garage at night. I have done a search and tried priming the fuel pump a few times and pumping the pedal a couple times (as to not flood it..). I have also tried to "release the pressure" by undoing the gas cap before starting (didnt make sense but what the hell, right?). So my questions is; do I try fuel pressure regulator? Fuel pump? I have never had a pump "start" to go bad, in my experience they just fall flat on their face. Also why would it only be at startup and not 80mph on the freeway/heavy acceleration (all 95 horsies..).

Thanks in advance for the tips; I am fairly car savvy just don't want to throw a ton of money at it and have it be something simple that I overlooked!

Before you do anything else, you need to fix the CEL code 9 problem. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the sensor and then check both CYL sensor wires for a short and open between the distributor and ECU.

I will test the voltage when I get home; however being stated that the vehicle has been driven perfectly for the prior 6 months without an issues, would you think that this all of a sudden would become an issue that would cause this..?

The tests are for resistance and continuity to body ground, not voltage. Code 9 or any distributor CEL code is a MUST FIX. Again, do nothing else until it is fixed. It's almost surely the root cause of your current problem.

Will post again once I test it. Thanks so far for the input. It's something I have been meaning to do, just one of those things... =/.
