1995 EG hatch race build
Hey there guys. new to the world of Honda's and wanted to introduce myself and my build. Iv'e been born and raised in south florida and recently bought a 1995 EG hatch shell which will be turned into a dedicated track car for FARA MP4-C class races down at the miami-homestead speedway. Heres some pics of the car as it sits:
So far heres what been bought for it:
-Wheels
-GSR brake setup(full)
what it still needs:
-GOOD roll cage
-B20 or B18(class restrictions limit motor to stock longblock B20 or LS motor non-vtec)
-tranny(undecided)
-coilovers
-misc. suspension(control arms, camber kit, etc)
Been parting out the interior completely, only thing left will be the dash(maybe). Not new to the world of racing but new to hondas...so maybe you guys could help me out with some questions:
-suspension wise, what would be ideal to upgrade for hardcore track use? only restriction on suspension is that it must mount to a factory mounting location. (coilovers, control arms, sway bars, and strut tower braces are a given...what else?)
-Where can i find a good roll cage? what do they go for? looking to spend around $1k on a good setup installed...is this realistic?
-any tips at all for the build?
To finish...heres a pic of the daily

For a racing transmission, you want a CTR/ITR transmission. Period, end of discussion.
For a cage, talk to your local fabricators - having something built for you will be a lot cheaper than having a complete unit shipped to you.
If you have to keep the motor stock, and have to stay NA, go with the B20. Preferably, get your hands on a JDM "high compression" B20.
For suspension, you can't go wrong with Koni + Ground Control. Cheap, and highly effective.

Always loved "grabber blue" anyways ill 2nd what is posted above...BUT what everyone forgets to suggest is tires!. OP what is the minimal UTQG you can run? I highly recommend Advan AD08r's best tires I've ever bought.

i can run any slick for dry and R888's for wet conditions. i'll look into those tires...how do they feel? they last?

They can be a bit loud/"hard" on the highway but over an exhaust you'd never hear them, the grip dry amazingly for a "street tire" coming in a 140 UTQG. I wouldn't use them in the rain I've had to pullover due to hydroplaning on the highway(60+mph). as for wear that's a hard one to answer I got around 13,000 km's so like 7.5k miles?. it depends on how you drive and what toe/camber settings you run too.
