1995 Civic DX hatch m/t speedo doesn't work
My brother in law has a Civic DX H/B that the speedo quit working... Car has about 200,000 miles...
Speed sensor did not fix the problem.
Following the flow chart in the service manual I came to the point where you jack up the car, slowly rotate one wheel with the ignition on while checking the voltage on the white/yellow wire at the speed sensor. The chart calls for a pulsing signal as the wheel turns from 0 to 12 volts. For less than 12 volt pulse the chart calls for the replacement of the speed sensor.
I have 0 to just less than 5 volts.
And as I said.
A new speed sensor did not fix the problem.
Any one have any other ideas? I was even desperate and tried cleaning the various spots where ground wires are hooked up. (G101 above thermostat housing, valve cover to core support and transmission bracket to subframe...)
I have spent the afternoon testing and re-testing and I am tired.....
Any help anyone?

same thing here man.
I tried to change a new speed sensor, not working.
not just the meter not working, my RSM and AVCR speed shows ZERO also, so i checked the wiring, nothing wrong.
is it possible like ECU spoilt?<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by noddaz »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">My brother in law has a Civic DX H/B that the speedo quit working... Car has about 200,000 miles...

Re: 1995 Civic DX hatch m/t speedo doesn't work (vic000)
it could be the tranny itsself.. take the speed sensor and connect it to a power drill...(clamp the tip with the drill chuck).. then with the ingniton on spin it with the drill.. if its not one way try the other.. see if you get anything? (when you replaced the speed sensor did you replace the whole thing? or just the top part?

Re: 1995 Civic DX hatch m/t speedo doesn't work (gezzuzz)
The car I am working on I put the car on jackstands and started it and put it in gear. With the speed sensor removed I could see the sensor drive going around and around.
I tried to grab it with my fingers to stop it. Nope...
Just for grins I also tried using a cordless drill to run the speed sensor drive with the sensor removed. Ran the drill both ways WOT with the key on.
Nothing...
Funny thing. When the car was put back together the speedo worked for about 2 miles on his way home...
*sigh*
Guess I will head to the boneyard and find a cluster...
Anything I should know about swapping clusters out?
