Icon2 1994 Honda Civic DX Automatic Transmission COOLING PROBLEM??? HELP NEEDED!

hey guys i have 1 problem with my car...

please help if possible

on a NORMAL car its takes a few minutes for the TEMP GAUGE to go up to middle

on my civic when i start my car the temp gauge goes up to REDLINE within 35secs of idling or driving down the road AT ALL TIMES!

MY CAR DOES NOT OVER HEAT AT ALL but needle/gauge STAYS at REDLINE?

what is it?

could it have anything to do with an alternator because thats the only thing that was wrong with my car and i have replaced my alternator already! and car drives EXCELLENT just the needle/gauge is at redline its just a weird think to notice even though i know ill be fine driving the car...

or COOLING TEMP SENSOR REPLACEMENT?

please help thanks

The 1-wire temp sender unit for the dash gauge is located below the distributor. If you unplug the unit, does the dash temp gauge now stay at Cold? If so, you may need to replace the sender unit or clean the plug.

This means there's a short in the sender unit plug or wire.

If the gauge shoots to HOT with the sender disconnected, then there is without question a short in the wire, connectors, cluster, or temp gauge itself. Use a multimeter to pinpoint what component has the short.
