Default 1994 Civic Ex Tachometer not working

My tach isn't working. Is the only way to check it is with a multimeter. All my tools are at my dads house about an hour away. I just want to see if there is possibly another way, before I make the drive out there.

OK. I just tried a new cluster today, and that wasn't working for me either. So I know I am having trouble with the tach signal wire. I know which one it is. How can I check if its good.

I read to ground a test light and poke the wire and if it surges then its good. But idk. I know there is other ways to test it. I know which wire is the tach signal wire behind the cluster but where does the go, what does it connect to.

Any help is appreciated

u need a meter to test continuity of the tach signal wire from distributor to the back of the cluster should be a blue wire or visually inspect wire for damage if u dont got a meter

I checked. I am getting .015 at dizzy and it goes up when revving. I checked at cluster and was getting same but not going up when revving. Also checked blue wire with cap I'm the engine bay on driver side and I was getting .009 and it would only go up to .010 or .011 when revving

Do you know anyone you can swap distributors with?

Nope. My next step is I have an old after market tach somewhere I'm gonna hook it up and see if it works. If it doesn't then would I have a distributor problem?

So I couldn't find the one I had. So I went and picked up a new aftermarket tach from autozone. Just tried it right now and it didn't work also. Is this an ICM problem? Because the ICM sends the signal to the cluster right?
