1994 civic ex sedan - orange plugs disconnected
Hey all, just picked this up for my daily and new to this was just looking in engine bay and saw these disconnected. Any one know what these are for?

To be honest, I do not believe I've ever seen orange OEM plugs on a 5th gen civic.

OP should look for ABS modular unit in engine bay.

Those two plugs should connect together. They are the main power wires for the ABS accumulator/control system. ABS was an option on the EX Coupe and Sedan as well as the Si hatchback. It is likely unplugged because the previous owner had problems with it... they are NOT unplugged from the factory.

You don't need it attached. It just prevents brakes locking when sliding on ice. Alot of abs systems in older hondas are usually on the verge of not working anyway. Might be a reason why they're not connected

I disagree. OP -- it's in your best interest with regard to safety to get the system working, especially if the solution is simple and inexpensive.

I agree with mullersfan but if you're a newbie then diagnosing and fixing ABS problems can be a deep dive right off the hop. Your conventional brakes will function normally, so there is no safety issue from that standpoint.
But, do check the problem code to see how difficult it is to repair. Could be fairly straightforward. Could be quite tricky (like a Code 1 error). The ABS computer hiding in the trunk may also need reconnecting if the PO disconnected it.

Yes if its qn easy fix do it obviously but lots of older cars don't have abs and they're fine. If you live somewhere where it rains alot or snows then definatly look into it.

ABS improves braking safety under ALL conditions. If you can get the ABS system working properly, then do it. It just makes sense.
