1993 Honda Civic LX?
I'm looking for a new car possibly, and I'm am getting dragged into the appereance and reliablity of Honda's . A nice 1993 Civic LX caught my eye, but I'm concerned that it would be a waste to auctually do any of the small mods I was thinking of doing? Just want some opinions from you guys. Oh yeah I'm new the forums, but I've been following them for a bit.

no benefit in building up or bolting up parts to the d15b7. good mods would be suspension and wheels, not only cosmetic but improves braking/handling and overall feel of the car, and makes it much more fun.

You see I want something fast, my son is getting his own car soon and I'm tired of the sick old retired station wagons . I wish I could do an engine swap, but I'm not that skilled as a mechanic. Considering my situation I would probably still buy a Honda..

If you are not able to perform a swap, or install a bolt-on turbo such as the Greddy kit, then I would recommend looking for an EX or Si model. You would have 24 more horsepower than the LX, and the brakes would also be bigger.

A Greddy kit is probably something I can do. I do have some mechanic skill just not enough to do a engine swap. I have to thank you guys for the fast responses, and I might decide to look into the LX. Now my sun is looking for a Honda . He drives next year

If you can handle the Greddy kit and the engine is in good shape, that could make for a fun car. I would expect a reliable 135 - 140 whp from that kit, and in a 2300lb car that is fairly respectable.
I have a '94 LX, with a custom turbo kit I fabricated myself. With my engine modifications and the 9-10 pounds of boost I run, it is near 200 whp. I like it simply for the shock factor of it being a four door.

I have an lx with boltons and everyone trips just because its a four door, even though they are getting more popular. anything faster than stock on a 4 door and people think its crazy.

Showoff!
Personally, my only problem ever with the 4-doors was the front bumper. I always liked the 2/3-door better, it just seemed to be a better fit for the car. But there is also nothing like getting the drop on people that figured the car for being underpowered and outmatched.

heh......lets just make this a picture topic bauley.
If you think you could put on a turbocharging system, then
I say just swap the engine. It is not that hard, and there
are plenty of detailed how-to's. It would be a lot more
reliable for a cheaper price.
