1993 del sol si electrical issue
Hi All
Our del sol has recently developed an electrical issue, it started with the kenwood cd/radio that was in the car when we bought it. The radio would loose power, like with a bad connection, when driving and then the fan stopped working and now the radio will not come on at all. I am thinking that whoever fitted the radio may have taken the power feed from something or somewhere that might affect the blower motor.
Anyone have any thought before I start taking the console apart?
Thanks

Blower:
Have you checked for blown fuses (#37 and #13) under the hood and dash?
Radio:
Check fuse #19, #23, and #32 under the hood and dash.

Hi
I know it's not 13 or 19 as all the other systems sharing these are ok, will check the rest as soon as it stops raining.
Thanks

Ok
I checked all the fuses suggested and they are all good, the radio is still intermittent and the blower is not working at all.
The blower would be the most urgent issue as it gets wat too hot and humid here to drive without A/C.

the radio is not too hard to take out,, my guess would be a bad connection in the back most likely just tied and taped.. my advice would be to redo all the connections see if the problem goes away

I just fixed a similar problem with my radio. It would work and then all of a sudden cut out, then it would come back on. I traced the problem to a bad ground without removing the radio, but you'll have access the back of the stereo to make sure everything is connected properly.
The fan could be a separate issue.

Re: 1993 del sol si electrical issue
Hi Everyone
Thanks for all the tips and information. I finally got everything working as it should, got a new genuine honda blower motor from Majestic for $77 plus shipping and handling which is not much more than the generic crappy one $55, but much better, The original one was kinda siezed but had not blown any fuses, I did have to also replace the resistor as the new one would only blow on position 4. Then I discovered the Altenator was scrap so I put a new one on and that sorted out the not blowing cold air and seems to have also cured the radio cutting on and off issue.
So thanks again for a great forum.
