Hey,
There is a great write up on another site, search around and you can find it. Some guy did it to a d16 as well on a silver ek.

how much do you think it will cost me to do a complete y8-swap and ive been told a si tranny would be a good idea also but i have to do a complete motor rebuild because she smokes like a freight train.

IMO, I would just swap the head, intake mani, and exhaust mani with a y8 or Si.
If you're going to boost it the extra 4-500 dollars wont make too much difference.

trying to figure out which head is the best bang for the buck though. I've heard the Z6 head isnt the best for this but better for that and vice versa for the Y-8. And for the tranny its got a brand new tranny in it and shifts just fine and works great. But some more help would be great and a parts list also. Thanks, tyler

y8 head, $200 y8 tranny $200
intake manifold is a good idea because the one you have is probably a vertical plenum and is restrictive.

Mini-me's aren't worth it in my opinion. Would rather just look for a Z6/Y8 longblock or just mate the B8 with a Z6/Y8 tranny.

honestly IMO, enjoy the gas mileage for now and start modding it when you get your B16. Use your hard earned cash for excellent suspension pieces (like koni yellow/ground control coilover, asr rear brace w/rear sway)which I think you will enjoy more.

ok well thats a good idea except for the fact that i have to add a quart of oil to it everyday and that gets expensive... also how much for a full b16a swap? na dwill it still get good milege and whats the power like

yes the b16a will get great gas mileage and it makes around 160 to the flywheel but it has the same torque as a D16.

Depends which B16a engine u get. They range from B16A1$1000 too B16b$4000. There is also a B16a2. If u is kinda short on cash I would get the B16A2. They range around $1500. But u have to remember u have to add another $1500-$2000 for the accessories to do the swap right. U should save ur money. To solve the burning oil, why buy a D16z6 head for 300-500 when u can buy a whole DX engine for 100 bucks. Plus it will give u easy practice to do the B16A2 swap. Too complete complete ur engine swap right, you need:
New axels
new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel (might as well change it since it’s out of the car. I would do an engine swap any day than taking the tranny out of the car to change the clutch. That **** is a biatch)
New oil/tranny oil/radiator fluid/clutch fluid
New spark plug wires and plugs
New engine mounts (unless the ones from the B16A2 are still good)
New Timing belt/water pump/timing belt tensioner (this is a must)
Since ur is a 93 u have to buy wires to wire up ur vtec from ur engine bay to ur ECU.
Then after the swap u should upgrade ur suspension because ur tires are going to just hop and vibrate the whole dash. Then upgrade ur brakes so that u have all 4 disc brakes so u won’t crash ur fast car. If u don’t have the money now, Please don’t bother us. PEACE!

Re: 1993 cx want a little more power (93hatchdude)
lol! Don't do anything to it. I have a cx and nothing u can do to it will help. Its hp is only 71. Its really not worth wasting money on a slow motor. Because I tried putting 92 si headers and dx intake manifold it fcuked up my car. So I don't want other ppl to have the mistake I did. Just save up some money and get a swap because cx's are light and quick. Its not worth it, but its just my opinion!
