1993 Civic SRS Light Reset
I have a 1993 Civic with the SRS light that stays on. One shop said that it was due to a airbag control module, so I bought a used one with the same module number from a 1994 Civic and did the swap. Now I need to attempt to reset the code. I searched high and low and tried finding the yellow dummy plug, but I only have two plugs near the area of the fuse box under the steering column and neither are dummy plugs. However, I still tried doing the paper clip trick to get the SRS light to flash, and never once did it flash. The Honda dealer wanted to charge me over $300 for them to do a pin test since they don't have a connector. I'm assuming they would need to test the pins at the control module location. Does anyone know where and how to test/reset the SRS light? I'm not ready to "total" my car for an SRS light. signed dadx7@***.net

Will the SRS light even reset if the airbag control module isn't programmed for my car? The model number of the module is the same as the original.

Re: 1993 Civic SRS Light Reset
Was your used module from a car that crashed? If the car crashes and the airbags deploy, the module stores that condition permanently and turns the light on. It's not supposed to be used again, though there are third-party places that can reset it.
On the other hand, you don't have to match the module serial number to the car. The system is rather simple and the only part with a memory is the module.

No, the car was not in an accident according to the ebay seller, if you can trust that source. So, it should just be a plug and play so to speak? I don't need to reset the light? Again, this 93 Civic is different from the '94 as it does not have a dummy plug to stick the paper clip in to get the codes or to reset the light. One thing to note, although the light stays on, there has been a few times when I was parked, and I turned the steering wheel slightly to the right just enough to put some resistance on the tires (1/2 inch turn of steering wheel) and the light would go out. Eventually it would come back on, though. I can't repeat this anymore...just remains on.

Re: 1993 Civic SRS Light Reset
Being sensitive to steering wheel position is likely a break in the cable reel (clock spring) between the driver's air bag and the main harness. I don't think the SRS has blink codes. The service manual describes how to test things with an ohmmeter and special harnesses.
