So heres the story. I traded my 1992 acura integra for a 1992 civic sedan, and when i went to go do my frist oil change at oilcan henry's they said the engine was lucky to have not blown because there was 1/2 a quart of oil, but there looks to be no leaks. But i noticed that there has always been a slight ticking sound coming from my engine when im anywhere in RPM's besides middle, aswell as startup. So just recently was told when me and my brother went to go get his new integy that it was probably a knocking rod, and if i don't romp on it i would be able to fix the internals, so the hour and a half drive back didn't help.. And then the other night i was coming home from a friends and my engine turned off & flashed the oil & battery light, so i quickly started it again, threw it in gear and it started knocking a little worse, then it turned of again once i left the clutch in for more then a few seconds, i tried once more made it about 2 blocks before it happened again, luckily we were on a slope toward my friends, made it to my friends put a 2quarts of oil in it, and started it the knocking rod was still aparent and didn't seem to get much better, so i had to drive it home and it died like 20times itself (no fun), then yesterday we went to oilcan henrys to get topped off it died 5times on the way there had to jump start it to get into the place, and about 1/2 the way back we threw a rod (fun!) pushd it to my house, and now it sits.

So i was just wondering what you guys think i should do, if the engine would even be able to be fixed, or if i should just got with a swap.. Craigslist, hmotor? idk.... I don't have much money so i can't get a crazy b18c5 swap or anything close to that.. Oh yeah the engine that was in it was a D16Z6

get a shortblock put it all back together with new gaskets and call it a day if you drove it that much with it nocking it more than likely messed up the crank too so you would have to get a new crank, rod, bearrings, and rebuild that motor then put it all together.. sinse its a d series you should b able to find a cheap block, unless your like me and you like to build your own motors then do that lol

That is a true testament to how much abuse a Honda engine can take before it dies for good. That engine might have been worth fixing before you killed it. Now it's dead.

Perhaps you should consider a form of transportation which has less moving parts .. like a bicycle. The bus would also work.

you traded a teg for a civic sedan with a bad motor? ouch. I would say it would be as easy(monetarily) to swap the motor as it would be to repair, especially if you put a hole in the block. With that being said, its not terribly hard to do, but it does require a general understanding of mechanics. So if you yourself are not mechanically inclined, it could cost you some $ to have it swapped. I sold my d15 with a z6 head for a couple hundred bucks and was happy to get it so it shouldnt cost to much to get a replacement. might be able to find one in the for sale section?

I found a d15b7 motor for $150, all it needs is the Exhaust manifold, tranny & clutch

& yeah i bought the integra and the first night it brokedown 20ft away from my house (the tranny & clutch went out) and then my family vetoed it out, and gave me $700 to get rid of it it also had a turbo kit... FML!

The guy said he'll take $100 for the D15B7 motor, does anyone think they would be able to help me pull my motor (d16z6) and help me put in the D15, and what all will i need to be able to put in the d15? Thanks

"Im selling a D15b7 sohc non vetec. Ran perfect when pulled, no ticks or leaks. it has the distributer, alternator, intake manifold, wireing harness. Only thing it needs is the exhast manifold. bought it for my car but sold the car before i put it in"
So what else would i need before i put it in? Any gaskets or anything?

suxx to hear but you could just get a jdm d15b vtec longblock from hmotors and shouldn't take you more than 2 days to get it back up!

If the blown motor was a Z6 like you said, you will need a ECU for a B7.
Use the exhaust manifold and the rest of the exhaust system that the
Z6 has now.

You will at least need a exhaust manifold gasket. Also, the B7 uses
a 1 wire 02 sensor - not sure if you can use the Z6's 4 wire 02 sensor with
the B7 and it's wiring and ECU. Maybe someone else knows.

Step one: Learn how to care for your vehicle.

Step two: Buy a replacement engine from somewhere with a warranty, sounds like it might come in handy for you.

it wasn't me who maltreated it, i always shifted at 25-33rpms, and didn't rush to them. It always had a little knock, and when he gave it to me it was .5quart of oil (must of been driven like that for some time), I'm just sad to see this engine go at 198k miles

Damn I wish you were a little closer. Could use the z6 head and turn that b7 into a mini me. Rob the z6 of all parts needed ie. Clutch, tyranny,manifolds etc. And the o2 sensor is the same. Pm me of you need any advice.

what he said. you can use nearly everything off of the z6, might wanna check that the head is straight before you go for the mini-me though. the motor probably had been leaking and/or burning oil in order for it to have gotten that low and throwing a rod you may have some damaged valves and/or guides

Correct, the Z6 exhaust manifold flows better anyway and bolts right up.

The OEM 2 layer steel ones are pretty reusable, I'm also pretty cheap though.

B7s use a 4 wire O2 sensor, it's the B8s that use the single wire. But to just clarify yes you can use a 4 wire heated O2 sensor with an ECU that looks for a single wire unheated O2 sensor (P05/P08)

It might be worth it for you to buy a motor from a place online like hmotors.com, since you know you'll be getting a good product, and based on your experience with you Integra and Civic, you may not be the best guy to determine if an engine is in good shape or not when buying from craigslist or something. Do you have any friends who could help you out with this stuff?
