1992 Civic startering problem
I have read several posts on starting issues. From what I gather the following items are key to getting the car to start.
1. Clutch Interlock switch good or jumpered
2. Main Relay operable
3. Starter\starter solenoid operable
4. ignition switch operable
(any other components?)
Our problem is the car was starting fine, no issues, stopped the car went to start it and the key goes on, the fuel pump energizes, dash lights come on, turn key no crank.
Things we have done.
Checked starter, its operational on a bench
checked blk/wht wire at solenoid, no power when key is turned on.
Clutch interlock, is jumped
so we replaced Main relay, still nothing
If I am getting no power on the blk/wht wire at the solenoid when key is turned what other items should I check? It seems to be a pretty simple system but has become a very perplexing issue to resolve. How often do the key ignitions go out and is there any test to test it?
I know there are many posts on this but none have solved my problem so I am starting another thread on this subject. The only way we can start the car is to jump the solenoid to the battery. We dont have the intermittent issue many people have had where it starts sometimes and then not others.

Re: 1992 Civic startering problem
I see a black boot not can't tell if a stopper is above that yet.
New info:
When I turn the key to II the fan and all dash lights work, fuel pump kicks THEN when I turn to III the fan shuts off and the circuit seems to go dead.

Re: 1992 Civic startering problem
Went out, unplugged solenoid wire, plugged back in ( its clean with a tight connection) and the car magically started, turned off started again. So I spoke to soon about intermittent. I will watch it over the next day or so.... Gotta love auto electric systems.
