1992 civic hb battery drain - argh!
been having a draining battery prob for a while. My battery would die at night and wouldn't be able to start the car in the morning. I changed my battery, which was less than 2 years old, and my alternator about 6 weeks ago. now, the brand new battery is dead again. the alternator has been tested to work.
i've done a few searches and some possible culprits are: something with the seat belt sensor, leaking starter, busted internals of the alternator (but this alternator is new), and the biggest reason would be a drain from somewhere. i tried to find it with my friends multimeter, but we couldn't get it to work. maybe i need a more expensive ammeter/multimeter.
besides the seat belt, alternator and possible starter prob, are there other tricks i can use? thanks.

The back yard way 2 do iiT is...
make sure ur battery is charged and ignition is on
Open ur fuse box...
start pulling your fuses 1 by 1 then puting them back and
if hear a lil electric sound sound like u just closed the loop that's what's draining ur bat..
Sorry 4 the spelling... I'm working on 2 hr sleep..lol

Definately invest some time in to doing a key off load or parasitic drain test. Any number of things could be draining your battery. My old CRX had the same problem, it turned out to be the sunroof. I pulled the sunroof fuse and it wasn't able to complete the circuit anymore.

thanks for the responses. i read a lot and tried the multimeter while pulling fuses test. the hard thing, was how to read the multimeter in amps correctly. sadly, it took me about at hour just to see how that works.
For people who don't know. Purchase a multimeter (i got mine at harbor freight for $3), and set the thing to 10 amps. the reading will be X.XX The goal is to have the reading around 0.05 or lower, which means the system is drawing out 50 mili-amps. i found out my stereo deck was making my entire system draw out .15, 150 miliamps, way above normal for a car turned off. Needless to say, the blue beast will no longer have a stereo system.
the thing that bugs me now is, has my deck always been drawing out this much juice, or did it break recently. hmm, guess i won;t find out. thanks guys.

In the meantime while your looking for the drain it's pretty easy to rig up a switch inside your car to disconnect the battery, obviously it's a little ghetto but it really doesn't look bad and the plus side is you don't have to spend some crazy amount of time finding the drain I have found that usually for some reason or another after a while working on the car doing other stuff you will usually come across what's causing the drain.
