Default 17x7 with 1.5" drop, what offset? 40mm or more?

I'm planning to purchase a set of 17's soon and wanted to know what offset is correct for a 99 Civic with a 1.5" drop. I had some 40mm wheels before and they rubbed very slightly in the rear, and am considering 42mm next time. Shoud I go with the 42mm or more, or just 40mm will work?

Thanks
Rob
