Default 12.1 compression

Hey guys i got a question, i recently had my single cam built its a d15b7 block with a y8 mini me and i have 12.1 compression on it and my timing it retarded all the way because of detonation, i have to upgrade my fuel system to advance the timing, and somone mentioned also getting colder spark plugs, well i got one step colder ngks and i was wondering should i still gap them a 44thousands or should i go less with 12.1?

It's usually a little less with higher compression, I'm not exactly sure. You can try ordering a lower temp thermostat to help prevent detonation. They sell a 165 degree's fahrenheit one on jackson racing's website, and I think mugen has a lower temp thermostat and a lower temp fan switch. I would say gap them to ITR spec? or maybe compare the compression from the ITR to the gsr and figure out how gapped you want them to be?
