11,000 RPM B16a1
Or so a mechanic buddy of mine says:
"If you change to titanium springs and retainers, and get a more aggressive cam profile (he suggests skunk2), you can rev the B16a1 to 11,000 rpm and make power the whole way up."
Any truth in this? Sounds too good to be true. I would do it just to say I have an 11,000 rpm B16.

Re: 11,000 RPM B16a1 (DarkKnight[DMD])
I dont know of any cam out there that makes power that high, except maybe the Toda Vtec Killers.
That on a street car would be "POINTLESS". Anyways, You will be breaking parts left and right.

Re: 11,000 RPM B16a1 (DarkKnight[DMD])
I don't think the Skunk 2 cams (Stage 2) will make power that high. Maybe Jun III or Toda Spec C's will make power to 9,500-10,500. I'd be more worried about the bottom end taking such high revving (If its stock). Why would you want to rev that high anyway???? Just for bragging rights?????
Not flaming just curious. They have bikes that can rev that high.

spoon has built a b16a/b16b thats capable of 11000rpm, it required more extensive work then just top end. not only block stiffner but other goodies to prevent any damage. but they said that basically its pointless to go over 9500rpm

Not worth the money if you are only thinking of the cosmetic value. Revving to 9000 rpm is fun enough (Even then some cars can;t take it). Get a bike and rev to your hearts content.

Anybody can make a super aggressive profile that'll make power up to 11k rpm, the problem is, the car will be completley nutless under like 8krpm..

what is funny..is the countless people i meet who think that revving high is what its all about. so many people dont understand: ok, your motor has the strength and durability to hold its own when revving that high, but does it make power??
if u are actually making useful power at 11k, good for u . if not..shift already damn it.

Re: 11,000 RPM B16a1 (DarkKnight[DMD])
even if you did build the engine to go to 11,000rpms.. true the power wouldn't come on till 7000 or 8000 and you would have to most likely custom build a tranny to help you accelerate fast enough to even use the power u wish to use but why not just get a turbo tell people u rev to 50,000rpms and if they ask how just say my turbo not my engine =P

No matter what cams you have the motor will stop building at 9600 and just be screaming afterwards! so dont overrev its not worth it!
