I put 10w40 Shell Helix Plus in mine (the stuff honda use in the uk), its eliminated my 3rd gear grind and haven't had any problems in the cold yet, but totally different climate here, rarely goes below 0C on the uk coast...

I've used 10w30 conventional motor oil (Castrol GTX), but when it's cold the tranny is extremely notchy and will occasionally grind. Once it warms up it's fine.

I recently picked up some GM Synchromesh Friction Modified - at $8.50 a quart it wasn't cheap, but $5 per quart over the cost Honda MTF is definitely worth it to have a smooth shifting transmission at all times.

I had a whole $35 in the tranny. I would have made $100 after gas and tolls.

BUT, Penn trooper got me for 83 in a 65, $104 ticket!!!
