Default 1.5l sohc vtec

how can you tell if the motor is the 130hp 1.5 vtec or if its the 94hp vtec-e. other than the valve cover. 130hp 1.5 vtec engine code?

are you talking about the motor from the civic VX? if so I believe the cat converter on these engines is built into the header.
But i'm not sure of the 130 hp 1.5 vtec vs the 94 hp vtec-e. what models of civic did these come in?

You'll know by the engine code.

A 1.5L SOHC VTEC with 130 hp would be a D15B, only found in JDMland.

A 1.5L SOHC VTEC-E with 92 hp would be a D15Z1, found in the USDM Civic VX.

Nah, dont bother going for the 1.6 block unless you get it for free or rediculously cheap. You could just get yours ported & polished & get it to flow.
