1/4 Mile times for Stripped 6th Gen Hatch?
Last season I raced a 6th Gen hatch at the track and I lost by a .1 tenth of a second, a very close race! At the time, in my 2000 Si, I an AEM CAI and 17 inch rims and I have no idea what the other guy had. From my visual interpretations I can say that he had I/H/E (Stock 1.6 SOHC VTEC) and his car was totally gutted out, all but the drivers seat and guage cluster. He also had numerous gauges on his A-pillar and 15 inch Rota Slipstreams; did I spell that right !
Now, yesterday at the track, he was there again and he ran a 16.7 compared to my best run of 16.4 (I now have H/E). The times might seem slow but is because we are in some high *** altitude! Any way, does this seem right; for a hatch to be running those sort of times? Another thing that was bugging me was the fact that I would get him from the hole majorly [60' 2.751 (him) vs. 2.571 (me)] and he would suddenly pass me by 1/2 car and retain his lead for the rest of the way. Here is the time slip from our first race BTW:
Him ME
.477 .554 He red lighted!
2.751 2.571
7.260 7.314 As you can see he gains ground quick
11.060 11.141
65.84 64.42 MPH @ half track
14.353 14.465
17.155 17.256 1/4 Mile time
79.86 82.01 As you can see I was pulling at the end
But, if look at the 60' and 330' times, he really gained some ground and rather quickly. I had no idea that a SOHC VTEC engine could pull so good from the low-end due to lower torque numbers. Do these numbers seem right for a stripped hatch with I/H/E/? to edge me out in the 1/4 mile? I would really like to hear about your experiences with 6th hatches.
