1/4 mile time: Is this correct?
Just wanted some input from all the experience track/drag racers here. I went to the local track with my recently install D16y8 in a 93 Civic HB CX. Here is the complete run down of my car set-up.
D16y8 w/ DC header
LS cat_converter w/ Skunk2 catback
and CAI
GSR rear suspension and front EX brakes (weight info)
Si rims
Full interior
Okay with those note....My fastest time was 15.834
Here is the timeslip:
R/T:..........8.76
60'............2.323
330...........6.538
1/8............10.091
1000..........13.20
1/4............15.835
MPH...........85.65
I had 4 runs in that evening. My best 60' was 2.176 but time. Okay now the real question i wanna know.
Is this what time i should be running with this engine in a CX? Any help or comment will be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: 1/4 mile time: Is this correct? (Gray EG)
Just wondering with this because I seen some HT memeber running high 14's with a Z6 in there HB. I was prolle expecting to hit mid to lo 15's. My friend with an LS in a DX HB ran 15 flat on slicks.
There was this guy out there with an EK HB with a B16a2 running low 16s and i think his best time was 15.9. I guess im expecting too much right now. More test and tuning.
Would having an 02 problem (code-41) have any factor in the my performance??
Unsung...yes i have a y8 tranny on it.

Re: (JMU1337)
looks right to me...although mista bone ran a 14.8 with a D16Z6 on slicks...which is like 15.4 without slicks...so i'd say you could be a bit faster, but I wouldnt be upset with that time

Yeah...mistabone...that is on slicks, and a hybrid transmission that he built himself...mista knows his ****, and is one of the best d-series drag racers you'll see...he pulls 1.8 60fts all day long with slicks

Thats not a bad time sounds just about right. When I had a d16y8 in my 92 DX with i/h/e gsr rims and bad tires, I ran 15.705@86.53mph. You can run mid 15's with that motor in your car.

thanks guys...just needed to know. Looks like room for lots of improvements.
I will try again later with sliks and see what happens then.
Oh...does my code-41 (O2 sensor) have any effect on my runs??

It could...sometimes if it throws a code it will put your computer into limp mode and cause it to run shitty, but 15.8 isnt shitty by any means

Re: (SPOON_EG6)
It taps into your 02 sensor lines and sends a variable voltage as needed to the ECU to trick the ECU into a perfect 02 reading... Thus, no CEL...

I've seen a BONE STOCK 93 Si HB run 15.60, stock down to the tires, just aired down to 18 psi.
Your 15.8 is a decent time. A little more practice helps ALOT.
Some things that made my Z6 HB faster.......
Remove rear bumper cover....... -.3 seconds
20x8x14 slicks at 13 psi, launching at 7000+ rpm -.4 seconds
Remove the "extra" seats...... -.15 seconds
That puts you at 15.00 even...........
My first weekend with the Z6 swap......15.02 @ 89 mph
Your right on target.
BTW I'm not using a "hybrid tranny", that was for the D15Beast7 that went 15.08 @ 87.8 mph
Now to get to my 14.85 times, I'm using a Kaaz LSD and a 12.25 lb cut factory flywheel.
Simple eh????? Mind you I have 800+ passes in my Civic. I started at 16.44 with the stock DX motor on street tires.
2.176 on street tires???? DAMN YOU!!!!!! That is pretty focking good!!!!!!
What CAI are you running???? AEM or a Slatertake is the best I've found so far.

Re: 1/4 mile time: Is this correct? (SPOON_EG6)
i ran a 15.3 with i/h/e and zex cam with 13" steelies and tires on my 93 cx with y8 swap. i had a y7 bottom end at the time which let a rod loose 1 week later on the way back from the track. i currently installed a crx si bottom end(10.6:1 cr) and a skunk2 intake manifold and rc 64mm tb from my teg. hope to hit high14's on street tires. will report back next thursday after test n tune.
this was at 1400ft also. my best 60' was 2.233

Not to shabby. Most times I see of a SOHC VTEC in a hatch are around mid-to-high 15's.
My best was a 15.9 on my D16Z6 in my 93 CX. (sh!tty toyo's)

Bone, Si rims has kuhmo712's and tires set @ 20psi. Don't know if that makes any difference. CAI i am using is a brand from eBay called CP. If i can get a flat 15 second I will be happpy for the time being.
In a week or so I will try again with slicks and a stripped interior too.
