Default 04 civic engine swap

i am about to get myself a 2004 civic and i am going to end up replacing the engine. now one of my problems automatically is that when replacing a motor, you need to replace it with a motor of the same year or higher. easier said then done. i just read that darton actually makes b-16 blocks. if this is the case then my problem could be solved. is the overall sive of the 04 civic ex motor the compatable with the size of a b16? if so then i got myself a killer in the works. im also sending an e-mail to darton but i wanna ask you guys cause up until this civic i really only know about preludes. besides, what doesnt a b16 have. it has everything and you can replace parts or swap with b18 parts the list is almost infinite. i hope i get some good news. thanks a ton guys.

i have yet to see a b-series swapped into the 7th gen civic platform. there are kits to swap the k-series. i don't think it is possible but i guess if u have the money it could be done.

doesn't matter if darton makes the motor b16's aren't offered any more hence you can't but it into your car.

personally i think its stupid. with the cost of all the custom fabing needed you could purchase a k20a ITR or a k24 TSX and have a bad *** base to work from the k20a ITR has 220hp stock. throw a turbo on there get the **** tuned and you would be seeing some nice numbers. or go the na route and see nice numbers also

agreed. Why go with a torque-less engine when you can have 220 hp?

Don't get an 04 civic if you want an easy swap. A K20 swap will cost you in the 7,000 range when all is said and done.

Forget the B16.....forget B series period.

K series is the way to go. It's not as CHEAP as a b series is, but the K series is really the replacement for the b series eventually.

Go to http://www.7thgencivic.com there's plenty of helpful info there. K series started out quite expensive, but the prices are going down. Depending on how long you're willing to wait.....you can have a swap for a better price.

why would you buy a brand new 04 civic if you know you are going to swap the motor out? That would be just throwing away your brand new warranty. Just buy an older civic if you are doing a swap.

Maybe he thought it'd be just as easy and/or cheap. Who knows.

The EM2 however, IS lighter than the EP3 and the RSX, by at least a good 300lbs I believe. It's also better suited for autoX with a better weight distribution.
