00 Si using oil & smokes on takeoff
This is the wifes car and just rolled 70k. Using about 1 to 1 1/2 qt per 3-4k miles and light smoke on take off. If I accelerate fast will leave a fairly dark cloud. I have used mobil 1 5w30 and premium gas since new. no real hard driving, mostly commuter use. Any ideas why the smoke/oil usage. Could plugs, valves out of adjustment cause this or is it deeper?

Could be bad rings or cracked ringlands or bad valve seals in the head. It's also possible that the seals on the spark plug tubes are shitting out on you and oil's trickling into the combustion chamber from there.
Is the smoke black or blue? Oil smoke is blue.
My advice is to pull the plugs, check for oil or residue on them and then pull the valve cover and see how all the gaskets are doing. If there's nothing immediately evident after you do that, it's probably the pistons or the valves. That's a lot of oil use for a Honda, so you're right in bringing it to our attention now.
Good luck
