When I bought my car, it came with AC Autotechnics Short Ram Intake... I'm sick of it. Car runs well when I drive in the morning but when it starts heating up under the hood, performance just drops. I have the stock intake box with a K & N, should I replace until I buy a AEM CAI or just leave the Short Ram in there... Also I looked somewhere on here and I found results on some testing a company did on short rams and CAI's. Mine came out on top which I think is BS. Suggestions? Leave it or keep it?

Its much better than stock, keep that bad boy and clean the air filter as meantioned if its dirty.

I'd just leave it until you get what you want. If you think the short ram is restrictive, you will hate the stock airbox. and about your short ram coming up on top over CAI during testing is because they usually do dyno tests with the hood open, giving the shortram more air.

There is a thread in here some where with dyno numbers, etc.. with all types of intakes. It was put on by a legit firm.

Another option is to reinstall the stock airbox but replace the tubing with your AC Autotechnics tubing. It'll mimic a Comptech Icebox kind of. And the airbox will at least keep some hot air out of the engine.

i would just put the whole stock airbox in. i have a short ram too, but i use my stock airbox instead. performance is better with the stock airbox imo

my bro had one on his LS integ. thing was a piece of junk imo. the piping soaks up way too much-if you ask me hondas seem to be very picky when it comes to temp...though not as picky as other cars-so short ram isnt helping much.

id just for a CAI or fabricate some sort of extension...or just put the stock box on.
thats what i ended up doing for my bro's integ. the piping was shiny-so if you were into the whole "bling" deal-thats about all it was good for.

doesnt really matter-most intakes dont do much for the car anyways.

Do a custom short ram. hook up some dryer ducting to the vents in the bumper where fog lights are suppose to go. Then run it up to your filter, got it on my 99Si and it feels better then when I had on my AEM CAI. I just cut it to make it a short ram.

yeah i just bought some dryer ducting at osh a couple hours ago. i took the short ram off the other week and put the stock airbox on. all went well except one tube that goes from the intake to the valve cover, it wasnt airtight so i was really sketch about that. is it a problem and what can i do about it? i think im going to put the stock airbox on and run the dryer ducting through but how would i cut the fog light area out carefully?

okay about the bumper, i just realized i just ordered another off of ebay and it's coming in this week so forget the precision cutting. i just need to know if that tube that runs from the intake to the valve cover needs to be airtight and if it does, what can i do about it

About the tube, or i thought it was a hose, it really shouldnt matter. Mine fits pretty tight but most people just take them off all together and put a breather on it. Not saying to do that, but you shouldnt worry to much about, but hose is only $.69 /ft. so might as well fix it.

I just used a razor blade, worked good, wasn't going for that clean show look anyways. Should put back on short ram and use dryer ducting.

umm... i put the stock airbox on today and used the dryer ducting. im sorry but i can definitely feel a power drop. im just going to keep it on until i do my smog tomorrow.

The breather tube? It doesn't have to be on there that tight, but if it really bothers you enough, go to any auto parts store and buy some tiny clamps. I did that when I was boosted ... not because I had to but because I thought it might look better and more professional.

yeah i went to kragen today, picked up some vacuum/fuel hose and extended it so it would fit and be airtight. damn im having fun with my honda

Keep it, I've been running a short ram intake due to lack of caring/funds since my swap took place this past winter. It runs fine with it, someday I might do away with it, but a turbo will probably be on the car by the time I look into a real CAI.
