00 si civic. codes, p0122, p1259, and p0108
my si ran perfect till my father had a horribly cheap no warranty shop do a timing belt install.
now the cars idle bounces from 100 to 800 rpms when cold and it sounds as if the pistons are taping the valves when slight throttle is applied. from the sounds of it the motor will blow if i drive it.
the description of the codes is this.
p0122 - tps sensor
p0108 - map sensor
p1259 - vtec system fault bank 1
im sure the first 2 codes explain the idle. can anyone help me out with the vtec code? possibly the vtec solenoid? anyone experiance the (death rattle) due to this code?

Simply going by the Helms manual, the probable causes are VTEC solenoid valve, open or short in VTEC solenoid valve circuit, VTEC pressure switch, open or short in VTEC pressure switch circuit, or ECM/PCM. As far as the tapping noise goes, check the mechanical timing yourself, and also check your valve lash.

thanks for the quick reply. i just read up on my valve lash clearances and will give that a check. would the gaps being to large cause this metalic jumping around sound?
