00 SI Check Engine Light Problem
I have this prob. w/ my car and I wuz' hopin' u guyz might b a able to help. When I'm racing in the fwy, if I'm on 5th, 4th or 3rd downshifting, the rpm doesn't reach 70,500, and my check engine light pops up, at that moment my vtec no longer works and it starts to smell like burnt gas. In order 2 get my vtec to start working I have to turn off my car and turn it on again 2 get the vtec working again. Later if I race it will do the same thing over again. I don't know what it is and it's frustrating, what do u guys think it is? What can I do? Thanks!!

Got ur email, I understand what ur saying but when the light pops up do I have to turn off the car or check it with my car on because the minute I turn off and on the car, the car goes back to normal, the check engine light no longer pops up. Thanks!

I actually did try that out in the afternoon w/ the car off with P28 chip computer and it threw the code 7, which is TPS. I took off that computer and threw the stock comp. on and the check engine light remained on and it wouldn't do nothing. So should I try doing this again as soon as the check engine light goes on or do u think it's the TPS? Thanks!

Couldnt hurt to check it one more time. If you are planning on using the chipped ecu you may want to just go by what that ecu tells you tho cuz that is how your car will run on a day-day basis.

What mods do you have?
Are all your sensors accounted for and plugged in correctly?
If your ECU is throwing a code for a TPS, then...maybe you found your answer.
Put your stock B16A2 Si ECU back in. Go to autozone and have them flash whatever codes come up. Fix from there.
