00 Si Blown headgasket..
I just purchased a 00 Si @ undisclosed price.. I was changing my spark plugs and on one of the spark plugs there was coolant. The rest of the spark plugs were dry minus one. The car never smokes or misfires. Here's my questions should since I might have to take off the head should I do work to it? or should I swap a gsr motor in? My b16 has over 175k right now. My goal with the car is to be boosted. Sometime later this year.
Let me know what you guys think!
3 non coolant spark plugs
Coolant spark plug

Al i can say is set a plan and stick to it till the end. I see too many people who get almost done and sell off all of their parts, at half what they paid, because they decide to go in another direction. As for the B16 it might just need a new head gasket, but if it was run hot the head is most likely warped. For a few hundred it can be fixed a a machine shop. A GS-R is gonna run a few thousand off the rip. Also a B16 is a great motor to turbo. they get great numbers with a good tune. GS-r is also good with turbo. Personally i like the B16 because of the response to throttle. shorter stroke with lighter internals= faster revs.

I hear you on that! for some reason the car run extremely cold it doesn't even get to the middle of the temp gauge

full engine rebuild then boost .. machine everything back to spec .. i got 248k on my d16y7 and i still race the **** out of it, but im planning to buy another motor that i can run on the car while the other engine gets rebuilt .. reliability FTW!

You can rebuild an engine for less than the turbo and/or GSR you say you plan on swapping. If the headgasket is blown, which it probably is, replacing it is even cheaper.
On another note did you even have the car checked out before you bought it?

Also check the thermostat. If it is not getting to run temp the previous owner might have taken it out all together, or the H2O temp sensor could be bad. Is the head really hot when it has been run for a while? I know my radiator never gets hot but the H2O temp gauge in the dash says that it is normal, a little below the mid line.

After that I'll just garage it until I save enough to rebuild it.
