'00 Si Bad Dizzy need options
So my distributor went bad 2 years ago and replaced it with a remanufactured unit. These units only seem to last 1 year before they also die, most recently thanksgiving morning it died 200 miles from home. Not the holiday I expected.
So what are reasonable options?
Keep replacing them under warranty even though they last about a year and continually risk it failing away from home.
Buy an new OEM Honda dizzy at about $800.
Buy an MSD Dizzy almost about $800.
Its a daily driven, boosted '00 Si.

Re: '00 Si Bad Dizzy need options
plug wires are rather new NGK's, no corrosion in the cap or rotor.
Car just starts to miss, sputters then dies. It might start back up but if it does it wont rev at all. Once it cools it can start and limp around but once it warms up it dies. With my computer hooked up to my AEM EMS once this starts to happen the EMS no longer sees the ignition timing.
Replaced it with another reman'ed piece but I'm thinking long term here and '00 Si housings from Honda are very short on supply.

I would stay away from the MSD pro billet dizzy, I've had two...the first one literally exploded(will post pics if you like) and the second one kept popping coils and coil drivers. If you're looking at spending the money, go to honda...look at built b16's with boost or all motor..you'll hardly ever find one with an aftermarket "performance" distributor. Just my .02 from personal experience though.

Your other option is to pick up a good used ODB2A D-series distributor (I realize the Si is OBD2B, but trust me you need an OBD2A D-series distributor for this) and swap the CYP/CKP/TDC sensors along with the coil and igniter into the B16 Distributor housing. Used D-series distributors are cheap enough that its worthwhile.
