00 honda civic SI - need help!
I am a US ARMY soldier and are on my 2nd tour to IRAQ. I am new to building engines and cars and still have much to learn. I am curious to what I should do with my 00 SI. I will have around 36,000 when I get back from IRAQ and want to know what engine setup I should go with to have a sick honda that will whip *** on the street and on the track. I really want good info so I can learn and gain knowledge on building my own engines. Please post anything. I am really wanting to go all motor but if turbo is the way to go then let me know. Thanks

If you have $36k and you want a bad *** car, sell your Si for 10k and buy a Subaru Impreza STi and put the other 10k from your car into the WRX. You will be unstoppable on or off the track.
Wisely though, you should save your hard earned money and use it to buy a house

If I had that much money, I would also make the move to AWD. Power can be put to the track way easier than in a fwd civic.

I know going an buying an STi would be nice, but thats getting out the easy way I want to make a FWD civic to run up there with the STi. I love honda, plus I dont want to drain myself by spending all my money on the STi. And I already have a nice house, but thanks for the input. I figured everyone would say to get an AWD, an STi at that, thats whats hot right now. I am considering getting rid of my civic and getting an NSX tho.

You've come to the right place to learn about engines. Welcome to HT. Search is your friend.
If i was in your position, I would turbo my existing engine. That's just me i guess. my .02

Build up your entire motor, and turbo that biatch. You should be able to make over 500WHP pretty safely with $6-10k into your existing motor.
cams- 500
valvetrain- 400
intake manifold- 300
sleeves- 1200
pistons, rings & rods- 800
turbo[garrett gt35 or something similar)- 1000
equal length manifold- 800
3" dp- 300
3" exhaust- 300
charge piping- 200
wastegate- 200
bov- 150
intercooler- 400
hondata +tuning- 600
=a little over 7grand.
This are just real rough estimates to give you an idea of what would be ideal.

Re: 00 honda civic SI - need help! (ccivic)
So fully rebuilding my b16a2 and putting on a turbo will actually give me close to 500 hp? Thats pretty sweet what about torque? ANd would that be better than droppin in a K20?

Actually, If you really want to go all motor. The K20 is the perfect project for you. The K20 engine is perfect to go all motor. The K20 comes already with 200hp, a six speed transmission and its a pretty strong engine. Turbo is aight, i dont like the lag. I like the instant power you get from all motor. Plus, B16 and B18 are made more for all motor than turbo. Leave turbo for nissan and toyota and go all motor with honda.

yeah man...don't take the easy way out...i belive u should juss build up your b16a2, go all N/A because in the long run, u have somethign to show for than going turbo, or looking at getting an AWD turbo monster. Juss build from top to bottom in example, I/H/E, camshafts, dual valve springs, titanium retainers, cam sporkcets light weight pistons and rings, connecting rods, underdrive pulley set, hi perforamnce fuel injcetors, bigger and braader throttle, etc...but if u wanna be an OG, go individual throttle bodies, and bore and stoke your b16 to a 1.8...than u'll be whoopin ***....brands such as skunk 2, toda, or even OEM JDM ITR and CTR would be good for your build. hope this helped.
Wait- Did u Say NSX?...Hmmmm

I'm with him ^^
You would pretty much have an all motor Si w/o the compression and the benefit of a damn nice turbo. Remember to get everything done CORRECTLY and with good tuning you would have a really really bad *** car.
Keep it clean (non rice) and search is your friend.

Nuff said, get an NSX and your power probs are solved.
