00 civic w/ mini me swap problems
alright so i did a mini me swap in my 00 civic with the y7 block and y8 head. everything seemed fine wen i got the swap in but now there are some problems after about 2 weeks.
first of all my car was overheating and my fan wasnt comin on so i replaced the coolant fan switch...fan comes on now....but today wen i was driving the car on the freeway and put the heater temp to cold, my car started to overheat
on the freeway wen i used my signals or used my sunroof, my speedometer would drop then come back to normal every time i used the signals or sunroof
a couple days ago i checked my oil cap and i saw a white residue...i was guessin that it was condensation...but the oil on my dipstick is not so oilly and i am not losing any coolant
i also put a revo technica short shifter in but it keeps bumpin into my exhaust wen i put it in 5th or reverse...is that normal? wen i drive regular, its okay but wen i mash in my car and shift from 1st to 2nd gear, it would grind...any ideas why?
im just hopin that i dont have a head gasket leak because i did reuse the same head bolts...some feedback would be great because i want my car to be ready wen i test the car out at the track next week...thanks

For the speedo dropping when u use signals or sunroof, kinda sounds like u have a short or a bad ground. Does it do it when u use your headlights or anything else? Could have some plugs backwards or something too..

Hmm...not sure but kinda sounds too me like a bad ground, bad grounds can make things really weird. In my integra i had a bad ground on my climate control switch, if i turned my headlights on my heat wouldnt work, and one headlight would be dim. turn the heat off and just headlights on and they were both bright.

You should drain your oil and check the color and consistency. You could have coolant mixing with oil. Do you have any CELS? I figure if you did you would have probably said so.

well actually i do have a cel but its for an evaporator leak i had previously so its hard to say at the moment...im about to do an oil change soon bc i believe some condensation was built in the engine while it was in the warehouse i bought it from...right now wen i feel the oil on the dipstick and rubbed it with my fingers, it was more watery than oilly maybe because of the condensation but not sure

Do the paperclip jump trick and make sure you dont have more than just the one cel. There could definitely be more than one now. There should be a pause between each code. There's a sticky in the top of this forum that'll give you all the info you'll need.

Re: (I Shot 50 Cent)
ok so i jumped the wire but only one code was thrown out...it only flashed 9 times in 1 second intervals but i dont see a code for 90 hmm so im guessin it could have been 92 which was the problem i was diagnosed with a while ago as an evaporator leak...but today i check on the coolant reservoir and it has gone down a little bit...im about to take out my spark plugs and check if there is any sign of moisture

Re: (josheezy)
well i replaced the water pump, thermostat, and fan switch but then the only thing i am concerned about is the fact that my car overheats wen i set the heater temp on cold...any ideas?

the head gasket is on incorrectly, thus blocking the passage of coolant causing the car to overheat. It is possible that since you used the old torque-to-yeild bolts (aka throwaway-if-removed bolts) that they did not torque evenly allowing the coolant to flow from the passages and mix with the oil.
With the car COLD fill the radiator up take of the cap and start it. if the coolant is bubbling then that it is a headgasket or head bolt problem.
