Default '00 civic si b16a? b16b? b18c?

i've decided to go all motor on my car just for reliability purposes i dont want it to blow up on me any time soon, i got a extra cylinder head (b16a) and i wanna build it so i was looking for recommendations on that, like what type of cams use, and stuff like that, and if i should save up and buy a b18c1 block or a b16b or what. i dont wanna buy a b20 cause i dont wanna deal with the oil lines and all that stuff, and i dont got a lot of money to spend either, its just gonna take a while for me to build this engine but im willing to do it so i'd appreciate any advise. thanks

you can get a b18c /c1 block build your car from the bottom, i'll use as many OEM parts as i can for reliability reason so therfore CTR or ITR cams..

but it all depends on your budget, how much are you willing to spend???

buy a cheap ls block and build it slowly on the side..pistons,springs, rings etc.. and when its ready slap it under your si head...and maybe some ctr cams or s2s2 cams..and bang...lsv...and if it brakes down you can slap your b16 block back on...

yea a lot of people have told me about a ls block but i dont wanna have to run the oil lines thats why i was thinking on a block off of something thats already vtech, some other people just buy a b20 block, i dont have a lot of money right now, im putting some stuff on my credit card, and its a long term project i know its gonna take me a while, i was also looking at a b16b tranny

whats up well I would say stick with the b16A I love mine for cam choice I would try crane or crower they prittycheap in a stage one set up I had a set or cranes in
my civic and vtec would hit hard I loved it. now for bottom end I would say go with the ctrs ther a little bit better balanced for the b16 than the ITR's

ctr for cams they are more agresive than itr cams and if i remember right the ctr pistons will raise compression more than the itr pistions. i dont know if the em1`s have a y21 tranny but thats whats in the 94-97 Del Sol VTEC and i love my gearing. good luck w/ what ever you go with.

So you don't have alot of money but you're looking into a CTR tranny ?
Kinda odd but alright. If I were in your shoes and I had an EXTRA B16 head, I'd for sure just slowly build B20Vtec. You have a running car mind as well take your time with the motor and do what you want and do it the right way

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jason007 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i found some of the stuff that im gonna put on the head, KMS valvetrain, and a rebuild kit i found on ebay that i wanna get and it includes CTR or ITR pistons, but i dont know which ones to choose, if the integra ones or the civic</TD></TR></TABLE>

I'd go with CTR pistons, it'll bump up your CR nicely so whatever bolt-ons you may get/have it'll make more power out of them. Airflow is key

If you're tight on money, you chose the wrong path to roll down.

N/A is a hole you throw money into .... and you won't see any BIG returns until your car is so gnarly that it's hard to clutch in and you get about &gt;20MPG.
