00 civic project car
hey guys i am getting ready to get this 00 civic with no engine and transmission. I have never done a engine swap before but I am willing to give it my all. I am asking opinions on what I should swap in. I am looking to turbo the car and the car is being built for fun and knowledge with no major intentions. Id like to take it to car shows eventually not looking to drag race maybe auto cross but thats a maybe. Id like to put a B or a K series in the car but im not sure what all needs to be done in order to make those engines work for the car and what needs to be changed as far as custom fabrication. Im sure things would be way easier to put a D series back in the car but im game for whatever I just want a good engine to boost that would be reliable and could be driven daily if need be.

Re: 00 civic project car
Being your first swap, I'd definitely go b series just because it's going to be a little easier being that's it's more compatible with your car. I'm not too keen on knowledge of the b series, and with no knowledge of your budget for the car, I'd say a b20 would be a good starting point. Plenty of torque and from what I've heard they are pretty reliable on boost. Later on down the road if you wanted mo powa you could always drop a b16 head on that and go b20 Vtec. Either way you decide to go, enjoy it and good luck on your build!

I second Joey's opinion. For a great little project with plenty of capability go B-Series. A B20 or B18 LS is a great place to start. Both have great potential to do pretty much anything you want and be super reliable IF DONE CORRECTLY. Both drop into your generation of Civic with minimal parts and it has been done a million times before, so the support is endless.
K Series is a hell of a potent engine but the high expense to put it into an EK could be better spent elsewhere on a B series.
The D series is a good little engine too and turbo'd properly can be quite potent but hands down I would go B if I was starting from scratch like you.

Thanks guys I appreciate the feed back! I would like to do the b20 with a b16 head. Would the Ls trans be the better route since I’m going to turbo the car? If there is any link or video showing: the work needed to be done in order for the engine and trans to go in like for the mounts or any cutting or what needs to be removed ; that anyone could share would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 00 civic project car
There are many many links and builds like this everywhere, google is your friend. The LS trans is the longest geared B series IIRC, a great trans, but depends on your needs. The B16 trans is shorter geared and will give you better acceleration but youll spin more RPM at highway speeds, its really kinda up to you and what your doing with it. I commute mostly highway with mine so an LS trans is great for me. But if I did short trips and light to light runs a B16 trans would be perfect. But yeah as stated above, search this stuff, its all out there and its been beaten to death

A b will drop right in, in other trims (Si) and other markets your car cam factory with a B, so that makes it super easy.

Re: 00 civic project car
yeah I understand that I’ve looked all over YouTube and google nothing is for what I’m really looking for I’ve heard the intake may not fit and maybe the alternator so the firewall would need to be modified but I’m not seeing anything showing what ALL needs to be done and what ALL is needed for the swap everything that I have found doesn’t make anything clear
