00 Civic Full Coilover Setup
I'm looking at getting some full coilovers for my Ek.
I want a good ride quality, with a little performance.
Its a daily driver, and its gonna be boosted soon... So I will be hitting the track on weekends.
Currently, I've been looking at F&F Type 1's, or Ksport Kontrol Pro.
I've searched, and haven't had much conclusive evidence to pick one over the other, or another coilover around the same price range..
Anyone got some input?
I WILL NOT USE KONI/GROUND CONTROL.
PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST THEM, OR TRY TO CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.
I WANT FULL COILOVER DAMPERS.
NOT KONI/GROUND CONTROL!

Re: 00 Civic Full Coilover Setup
well by given things u said by the ones u looked at and what u wont use tells me 1 or 2 things
either u are cheap or u are broke
for good ride quality and performance u will pay for good ****
IMO ksports, type 1's and other $6-700 setups are pointless

another buddy ran Pic selects

u also have to understand there is no such thing as a true track & comfy DD supention due to the fact u stiffen things up to track a car so u have to fig out what one u want more

Re: 00 Civic Full Coilover Setup
If you want a nice ride quality then you better forget about coil-overs and linear rate springs. You will want a progressive rate spring. I don't know of any coil-overs with progressive rate springs off the top of my head. If you don't care about performance then why don't you return to the stock suspension?

Re: 00 Civic Full Coilover Setup
Because I want the drop of coilovers??
I want more performance than stock, but I don't need anything for like auto xing or anything.

i have zeal b6 's nice coilover but stiff manily for track use and in montana the roads really suck! i have had tanabe pro spec c's the top of my pick even over teins and there only 875 new if i remember right the smoothest ride but still stiff to push your car in the corners hard

Re: 00 Civic Full Coilover Setup
this is another part where there are just so many different options, and so many people are running this coilover and that, so many people telling you to run "a brand" because they run it, when in reality they only bought it because its what they could afford at the time. do your research on different product reviews, talk to people, take your time and find something that suits your cars performance/daily habits goals...but, its all bullshit til you find out for yourself.

Re: 00 Civic Full Coilover Setup
If you go with a progressively wound spring it will be more comfortable because the spring rate at the beginning of the range is softer than when the spring starts to compress. By the way, the stock springs are also progressively wound. You could try H&R Sport Springs or H&R OE Sport spring with your choice of shock. I would think they would be more comfortable than any coil-over you find.

Re: 00 Civic Full Coilover Setup
Ive riden in cars with coilovers before and they were comfortable.
Cars with coilover sleeves are not, but some dampers are actually pretty nice.
I dont know what dampers they were, which the point of this thread.

bsmith100, ride quality is all based on opinon, you and he may have completly differnet opinons on what comfort is.
However, I will agree with you, a good lowering spring and shock tend to be more comfortable then coilovers. Lets just say H&R sport and tokico illumina's would be fantastic, but a good coilover setup can be just as comfy, koni/gc is a good example of that. Progressive springs and rates that you choose with adjustable dampaning.
Coilovers manly just give you ride height adjustabity
