gettin the racket when startin off in first or neutral (2 or 3 "pops"). what exactly is causing the noise an how long do i have before it's a serious problem?

usually, when the CV's start to go bad, they will "click click click click" every time you apply gas pedal during a turn.

Ive never heard them clicking while going straight.

Are any of your CV boots broken or torn?

yeah, i figured i'd wait until it got to that point before i changed them out unless it's not my cv joints. i've heard some pretty bad ones in my life but now that you mention it, it's always been while turnin also. hmmm...

Where do you think the noise is coming from? Transmission, engine, suspension, etc.?

I hear that noise sometimes when I first move from a stop after turning my car on. My rear struts are bad and make the noise when they get depressed for the first time on a car ride.

sounds like it's coming from the inboard joint driver side. never considered it might be a strut or something. not quite the "krackle" i associate with a bad cv, more like a muted "pop" is the best way i can articulate it.
