Default /// ~ Getting a chip re-burned - NEED INFO! ~\\\

I am going to be having my chip re-burned for my setup. The ECU came off a single cam vtec motor.
Car is a 00 Si, b16a2 with AEM SRI, JDM ITR header, APEXI WS2 exhaust, CTR Intake cam, BM Fuel pres reg.

What kinda basemap should I go with? Are basemaps just generic for all B16's, or do they vary with your mods? About how much power do you think I will gain on a good basemap?

Also, when I get my chip done, can the guy change vtec engagment, rev limiter, CEL shift light, 2step, etc??

What's a good spot for;

Vtec
Rev limiter (I think I should keep it stock, is that 8200?)
2step (set for the street/street tires
shift light

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

A basemap is a map used to start the engine so you can begin tuning. Basemaps typically have a difficult time starting, difficult time idling, usually idle rich and above 1000 RPM, and there hasn't been any tuning beyond that. In other words, you can't drive a car on a basemap.

The only way to gain power from a tune is to have your individual car tuned on the dyno by a professional. Absent of that, the best you can do is have your chip reflashed with the factory calibration for your particular motor.

Really? Damn.

How does phearable.net get away with it then? Many people talk good about him and his chipping services. I know a basemap should only be used to get you to the dyno for tuning, on a turbo motor.. but on a simple N/A setup like mine, wouldn't a basemap be okay?

He uses the best basemap that he has made for a stock car. Is that the best for your car, no. Is it going to damage your car, there is a possibility. In the end you need to get it tuned.

From the sounds of it you have no reason to change your ecu anyway.

So I won't see any power at all from getting a chipped ECU? I already bought the ECU and Harness, now I just need to get it chipped. I'll be pissed if I spent this money for nothing. I'll even be happy with 10 more hp out of it.

Alot of times people loose power when they compare a "already bought" basemap to a stock ecu. When you tune then you could make a little more power over stock on a stock setup.

Oh, well I'll take my chance and go with it. I already bought everything I need so it's to late to back out.

Can anyone give me some answers to the Q's in the first post? Thanks
