[VIDEO] 93 del sol starting problems
D16z6
This happens once in a while.
I will drive somewhere and when I go to turn it back on to leave, this happens in this order.
1.) Engine will turn over, then die.
2.) Then it won't turn over for about a few minutes.
3.) Then it will start fine.
At the time of video (below) I have already passed step 2 where the engine won't turn over at all.
Stepping on gas doesn't help keep it alive when the engine turns over(rpm doesn't rise from pressing accelerator)
Any ideas?

fixed video.
And I think I may know the answer but want conformation.
The Coolant Temp Sensor may be bad> telling the computer that the engine is cold> floods the engine(which explains step two of the problem) going extremely rich> then finally starts after a few tries.

well sometimes I have a bouncing idle.
I have no real evidence. I'm not sure how to check it or where it is,
I found this on another site where someone has an almost similar problem
I dont know what they mean by "backprobe"

Leave the connector plugged in because the computer sends a reference voltage to it on the red/white wire which is reduced by the temp sensor depending on temp. So you would back probe the connector to see what the voltage reads with the key on.

The ECT sensor has a 2-wire connector and is located below the distributor. Warm up the engine and then turn it off. Unplug the ECT sensor and then measure the resistance across the two sensor terminals. You should read 200-400 Ohms.

What engine do you have? Have you tried bleeding the cooling system? Is the coolant level low in either the radiator or reservoir?

it usually happens when its hot outside or I run the car a little harder than normal driving.
and if the coolant needed bleeding, wouldnt air pockets work themselves out over time without bleeding it?
and the resoviar is at max level

Testing the ECT sensor was your idea. I only told you how to do the test. It's simple so just do it. Then go from there.

Test [and Replace, if necessary]
- ignition switch
- ignition coil
Test [and Clean, if necessary]
- idle air control
- throttle body
These are problems I ran into recently, and it looks like you could be in the same boat.

Re: [VIDEO] 93 del sol starting problems
but this only happens every once in a while. wouldn't a bad fuel pump cause problems even while driving?
plus like I said, this happens only when the engine is warm and only then it only happens sometimes
I also cleaned my IAC out and used carb cleaner on my throttle body as well as sprayed it in my Intake manifold. I don't know how to completely remove it to clean it out with a brush.

No. Some problems are intermittent.
No
