What D series is this??!!
Greetings All,
so i recently bought a Honda Domani (MB3), and so far I've put about 20k km on it. What puzzles me is the following:
When facing the front engine head code reads :
P-2A followed by what seems like a 6 (casting isnt too precise) on LHS
00 on RHS
The block says : D15B
-It's a non vtec model with an AT.
-The throttle body is downdraft style like the hatch models.
-The cam sprocket doesn't look like the ones in the honda civic manual ( mine looks like a pressed steel with oval holes).
-The timing belt is 103 teeth (was a pain to time and always seems 1/2 a tooth off).
Im not able to cross reference the codes with what's available because either the block or head doesn't match. Can anyone please shed some light on this?
I'm suspecting a d16 head on a d15 block but idek if that's possible.

Re: What D series is this??!!
It's quite possible. D16Y7 head will fit a D15 block without issue.
As for the block, without the original head there isn't a way to see which of the 3 variants of D15Bs it is without tearing the bottom end apart. If I recall, the vtec D15B had the bigger bearing rods while the non vtec had the smaller bearings like the B7/B2/B8 USDM motors. And I am not sure what bearing size the 3 stage D15B motors had. I'd assume it would be the larger set.
Being you have the Y7 style throttle body, I'd assume you have the equivalent of the D16Y7 head on a non vtec D15B block. To fix the half tooth off timing issue, use a Y7 cam sprocket. You will have to to transfer the timing marks from the D15B sprocket that is on there. Align the key way and transfer marks over onto the Y7 sprocket. There is a half tooth variance in the key ways of the two sprockets.
