Hey spade, you mention the DelSol radiator for a dual core upgrade, but I thought I had heard that a 96+ EX automatic radiator would also be a worthwhile upgrade (and judging by the look of my EX rad. vs. the VX rad. I believe it). If anyone can confirm this, please do.

yeah it is bigger by far. Not a dual core I belive but it is bigger. When i had a 93 cx and the rad cracked, i ordered a new one from discount and I a saw that is wasn't fitting like it should. I compared it two my old rad and it was like 1.5 wider! the manuel one looks so puny compared to the automatic one.

I am looking into the D17 Crank in a D16 Block. (project engine doesn't have a crank)

Yes, you have to modify the LS rods. Any machine shop will do it for cheap.

Yes, the headgaskets are the most reliable way to increase compression other than pistons. Find any compression calculator and screw around with only the gasket.

d16a1 pistons (stock bore) in the following with a y8/z6 metal headgasket(no mill):
d16a6= 11.08: 1 compression
d16z6= 12.03: 1 compression
d16y8= 12.61: 1 compression
Well, I have a D16z6 long block with a zdyne ECU in my 91 hatch. This means if i do the combo of a y8 head gasket and ol' skool integra pistons ill be running 12.03:1???..Is that safe with out a knock sensor guys? I hear safest compression to run on the street is like 10.5:1....any opinions?

ITR's have a stock 11.1:1 Compression. You will be fine you just have to tune the igniton properly and ALWAYS run high octane.

I dont really understand why there is coolant going to the intake mani and throtle body, wouldnt it make the air heat up to high temp? Would it be ok to bypass the coolant lines going through the intake parts?

The coolant is okay to bypass in warmer climates. It goes throught eh TB and IACV to keep them from sticking closed.

as soon as I get my cam gear and go back home for a school break, I'll get on the dyno and post the results(with a compression test to show for variables) of a stock Z6 cam, ZEX cam, and ZEX cam tuned with a cam gear...bumpididity bump

I will always preach, there is no replacement for displacement.
IMO, drop the 15 and get a 16. They are cheap and abundant. The only combo that you will get to yeild "big power" out of a small engine is a Turbo.

Just some additional info on your (Spade's) theory on the HX head. Contacted Crower Cams and they CANNOT get blank cores for grinds, they can only regrind a stock cam, it add 5-10 hp and costs $200. Anyone know where else to get an agressive cam done for this engine (Y5)?

Can you list places where to get the Z6 swaps at a good place?? Or it is easier to just grab one that was swapped out?

You could probably get one cheap off of someone that has done a swap, or you could go through http://www.nippon-motors.com. I believe they sell the jdm ZC sohc vtec motor.

i can honestly say from that the aem pulleys on my car did nohtin at all

I hard that if you have a an elaborate sound system taht you shouldnt use the alteranator pulley...something about the system making a strain on the battery and the alternator can't recharge it cuz of the different pulley....I dont know how true this is but its somthing ive heard.

i have the aem kit as well.

one thing i do notice is that, you're right, it does strain the battery because the alternator doesn't work its hardest. i notice that when i'm at idle, my car runs 12volts, and while driving, or even revving for that matter, it bumps back up to 14volts.

i have 2 12" subs as well with an ok amp, **** bumps! but it take a lot of power from my car when i crank it up. listen to it for more than 10-15 minutes without driving, or starting the car, the car wont start. happened the other day at my ex g/f's house when i left my friends in the car while i went inside for a few minutes. i had to pop start the thing.
