I take it your removed the tow hooks completely and bolt the traction bar on the frame where the hooks were or did you put the hooks in on top of the bar?

Just wondering cause I was under the impression that i'd remove my tow hooks.

Nice review and install.

My only question is the clearance in the picture below. It looks like the connecting rod is close to the trans. Are there any potential clearance problems?

G</TD></TR></TABLE>

that is a really bad picture btw.. it clears the trans easily no problems at all. i made sure to test the full range of movement for the right side radius arm.

yes i do run this daily on the streets.

yes you do have to remove the tow hooks. come to think of it. you can use this bar as a tow hook. it really is that strong!

Exactly what I have except I ordered mine w/o powdercoating.....the aluminum radius rods and lca mounts are nice.
It just needs some aircraft teflon rod ends, SS hardware, and final powdercoating now.......great parts for the money

I had some radiator clearance (bottom neck) issues but did not want to use the supplied spacers. I clearanced the passemgers' side radius arm tab to clear the radiator. Work great.

Now gratned I don't have the car infront of me but why could'nt you back a bracket that was a U shape and put the Yolk bolt thru it that way?

Now this car is a 96 cx hb with full SI suspension With a H22. And the HCP "race" mount kit that has the front mount bar.
But i Don't see any reason why that can not be done... Providing there is enouogh clearance for the rim....

yes you are... if you didnt then you are not getting the proper performance out of the bars.

i ordered these bars on thursday so i should see them this week, but i searched alot and asked jim about the install. basically mount up all the hardware and roll your car onto ramps to compress the suspension. then start adjusting, jim says that he recommends the "nuetral" position, no pressure being put in either direction on the lca's. but in searching most people suggest slight pressure (one or two turns of the radius rods) pulling the lca's towards the front of the car. if they are ajusted properly they will elimiate wheel hop, help braking, accelerating, and cornering.

ill hopefully do a writeup/review of thes next weekend for an eh2/ej1 as well.

i'm probably going to sell it. i've fallen in love with this traction bar already.

euclid good info. thanks. i'll readjust right away. gave it gentle pressure about 3 turns already. i have no wheel hop. today i tested it on damp pavement. same result. nearly no wheelhop.

One of the complaints that I read about the z10 kits was that you could hear the radius rods clanging around as you drove. Do you notice anything like that with the jimfab kit?

I'll bet that this noise has more to do with the type of rod ends used rather than the maker of the bars (Z-10, CompEng, Jim Fab, etc)
Regular rod ends wear out after some use and loosen up, thus start making noise.

If you replaced the rod ends with aircraft quality ones (they have teflon inserts near the bearings) you will not hear any noise. The teflon rod ends are expensive though.
