I also am looking for a little advice before I go digging under the dash.
Edit: I will assume it's similar to the CRX.

Re: a/c removal under eg dash
I just did this in my hatch. The A/C evaporator core sits between the heater control unit and the blower motor. You'll have to replace this with a duct, part number 7 in this link.

Don't forget the plug for the firewall. Part number 16 here.

There is also one more plug you'll need for the small hole where the AC evaporator hose went through the firewall. I'm really not sure which one it is, maybe someone else can help out.

Re: a/c removal under eg dash
You can remove the core from the evaporator housing instead of replacing it with an empty duct. If you insist on the duct, I'll be more that willing to trade straight up for your evaporator since I want AC anyway and it's one less thing for me to rip out of my donor car.
EH2hatch, I know the plug you are talking about, the one for the drain for the evaporator. To me, it looks like either part 19, 21 or 23. For something small like that little bushing, I would swipe one from a junkyard car
