2/3dr EG front bumper on 4dr. a little howto.
I found a lot of topics on this subject but they mostly didn't agree.
So I tried myself. I got the black bumper from the 2dr of a friend of mine. The bumper fits right on there, the bit under the cornerlight needs a little persuasion to get it into place since the 2/3dr corner is a bit shorter. Now pull the side of the bumper out a bit and determine where to drill a hole to screw the bumper on since that hole is a bit more to the back on a 4dr. That's basicly it. The straight edge along the wheelwell is a bit thinner on te 4dr so it doesn't look a 100% right, but IMO the 2/3dr bumper looks a lot better and i've seen aftermarket bumpers with worse fitment. The hole that holds the bumper to the fender needs to de re-drilled. I didn't trust the thin piece of plastic so is fabricated this little bracket. This was the initial setup, I removed it for paint and screwed it back in on the inside to make the gap smaller. https://img42.photobucket.com/albums...r/Img_5502.jpg the hole on the left is the original holes, the one on the right is the one I made for the 4dr. https://img42.photobucket.com/albums...r/Img_5503.jpg pics from the front and the side https://img42.photobucket.com/albums...r/Img_5492.jpg https://img42.photobucket.com/albums...r/Img_5491.jpg The result, still needs a bit of paint tho... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif https://img42.photobucket.com/albums...r/Img_5496.jpg All pics: http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....488.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....489.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....490.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....491.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....492.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....493.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....494.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....495.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....496.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....497.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....498.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....499.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....500.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....501.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....502.jpg http://img42.photobucket.com/albums....503.jpg Modified by zanthrax at 4:04 PM 7/17/2005 Modified by zanthrax at 4:04 PM 7/17/2005 |

Nice little write-up, a must for all 4dr owners IMHO - unless they have a huge FMIC https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: 2/3dr EG front bumper on 4dr. a little howto. (zanthrax)
Nice write up.
Instead of the metal strip, you could have used a nut / bolt with a washer on each side. Doing so would pull the body lines together much better IMO. |
Re: 2/3dr EG front bumper on 4dr. a little howto. (JV)
JV you got a pic of that by any chance?
|
The gap would be a bit smaller without the strips, that's right.
The holes are so close to the sides, I'm affaid they will tear. I'll try putting the strips on the inside and cutting of the ending of the screws. |
Re: (zanthrax)
looks real good on the 4dr.... gotta try this on mine... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (anutha gook)
put that metal strip on the inside...that way your body lines will match and it wont pull through the plastic. Right now if you worried about it pulling through it still can but will stop once it hits the metal then you sheetmetal srews are going to rip out.

Once you get that painted Silver, that gap is going to be SO obvious. You should clean that up a little bit.

Re: (prestoizm)
Nice DIY, but definately get it cleaned up. I rock the coupe just for the front bumper https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Re: (JRI94)
def looks good.. i like that front on the 4 door
|
nice write up.....i might do that to my four door

Re: (mrctr)
when I did mine, the bumper support had to be modified or removed. The sides are a little off, but probably with a heat gun and some skills it good be alot better. Even the 2 dr bumper thats a little off is way better than the 4 dr bumper.

Re: 2/3dr EG front bumper on 4dr. a little howto. (zanthrax)

Re: 2/3dr EG front bumper on 4dr. a little howto. (zanthrax)
It looks go from a distance but once you get close the shape of the lip on the fender and bumper don't match up. I've learned to like my 4dr bumper.
