the VSS is the only sensor that is going to your transmission if its a 5 speed. its straight down from the throttle body

im getting a code 19 on a jdm p30 ecu which indicates an automatic transmission lockup from all the lists I can find. The swap is a manaul transmission. Does this mean that I got an automatic p30 ecu? Do they exsist? or does the code 19 stand for something else in a manual transmission??/

Thanks for the help

yes the vss should be in the same spot. i believe its a 3 wire sensor.

For your code 19. yes that is a automatic ecu. the reason its throwing a code is because the ecu is looking for that sensor hence its for a automatic tranny.

I have a 92 Civic HB w/ a 96 GSR swap. I'm using a JDM B18c ECU (Has 4 connectors on the ECU). I'm thinking it's for the JDM Automatic B18C's. I'm getting a Check Code 21. The wires are connected right but still receiving this error. I swapped it out with my friend's USDM ecu and it still gives me the same error. What else can I do?

Get this... My 99 Si is throwing a code 76!? That is a random misfire on cylinder #6 in a B16? Curious. Any idea as to what might be wrong?

Also, I have checked and rechecked and I am sure it is 76.

Default Re: (Chiovnidca & JDMlifestyle) Locating the 3-pin VSS

OK...I found it...the question is, "How do I get to it?"

I can easily hit one of the bolts with an extension...the other is impossible from what I see.

FYI - I found the VSS on eBay through Direct Automotive Products; $51.70 delivered.

Once I recv it I will try and get at the old one.

My mechanic says he will do it for one-hour labor; but I would really like to do it myself. Any suggestions?

I have the service manuals coming in the mail...one on CD ($4.50 delivered) and the original Honda Service Book ($11 delivered - it's heavy).

I just tried this in my 1999 DX hatch and had a problem. The light has been on for a few weeks. I found the connector (had a brown wire, not red) and jumped it. I turned the key to the on position without turning on the car. The CEL immediately went out at this point without flashing at all. I turned the key off and back on again and the CEL just went off again without flashing. I took out the jump wire and I turned on the car and the CEL stayed off. It stayed off for two days, now it just came back on. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the your vtec solenoid is bad or you have the wires going to the wrong pinout on your ecu.

They may need cleaning or you may have to replace them.

if you have your OEM sensor most likely it has gone bad. if its a new sensor then you most likely have it wired up wrong

They prolly need cleaning. you can send them out to RC engineering they can clean them and flow them for you i think its around 15 bux a injector. if the flow numbers are low then you probably need new injectors

the VSS i believe is held in by 2 10mm bolts. i havent looked in a while but its pretty easy to remove. you could do it your self easily in 1/2 hour to a hour at the most depending on your skill level.

are you jumping the right service connector? there are 2 connectors that are very similar. But if your CEL isnt coming on when you scan them. then your ecu is not storing the codes.

I'm not sure if it's the right one. I found the one just hanging there unconnected to anything in the green rubber protection bootie with two wires coming out of it...one black, one brown. The CEL was on initially, but it went out after I jumped it. Where is the other connector located? Does it sound like I have the wrong connector? Thanks for your help.

I checked my code, once again, and it is now reading a code 67. I don't know how I read it wrong or if I even did and the computer is just freaking out, but it is probably not just a coincidence and I am an idiot. Anyhow, code 67 is not on the list either, but I assume it is because of a problem with an O2 sensor by where it is on the list. I had to splice the sensor wires because they weren't long enough to fit my header. Any ideas now? Bring on the flames... I deserve it.

Is the process any different for getting the ECU codes for a 1994 Honda Accord.

Heres what my cars doing:
1) D4 light blinking
2) Speedometer/odometer/tripometer dont work-even after replacing the VSS
3) ABS light comes on after putting the car in drive.

Thanks for any help!

Thanks JDMlifestyle for the codes and video. I've hooked up paper clip and get 17 blinks on CEL (VSS), 4 on my D4 lite, and 4-8 on my ABS lite.

The problem I've got now is I've already replaced the VSS about 4 mos. ago, which I bought on Ebay. Is it possible I got a bad unit (seeing how it never worked from the minute I put it in). This evening I removed the VSS and checked the current of the harness and everything seems right. Reinstalled and damn thing still doesn't work. On top of that, one of the heads to the bolts broke off!!! Now I'm really frustrated, but the beers tasting good! Any ideas where I go from here????

Maybe a stupid question.
I have Civic '93 with D15B2 engine and it's for Europe market. Does this code aplyed to my Civic?
How I wil recognize if CEL flashes for two or more codes. For expample: 32 and 45.
I if hook up wrong pins/wires is there any damage?
Sory for bad english, it's not my nathive language
